Jeremia 2:8-10

8 Prästerna frågade inte:
’Var är Herren?’
De som hade hand om lagen
kände mig inte,
ledarna satte sig upp mot mig,
profeterna profeterade i Baals namn
och följde värdelösa avgudar.
9 Därför kommer jag att gå till rätta med er än en gång, säger Herren,
ja, även med era barn i kommande generationer ska jag gå till rätta.
10 Dra bort till kittéernas[a] kuster
och se efter,
sänd någon till Kedar
för att noga undersöka
om något sådant har skett:

8 The priests did not say, ‘Where is the Lord?’
And those who handle the (A)law did not know Me;
The rulers also transgressed against Me;
(B)The prophets prophesied by Baal,
And walked after things that do not profit.
9 “Therefore (C)I will yet [a]bring charges against you,” says the Lord,
“And against your children’s children I will bring charges.
10 For pass beyond the coasts of [b]Cyprus and see,
Send to [c]Kedar and consider diligently,
And see if there has been such a (D)thing.
