16 Fjala e Zotit m’u drejtua, duke thënë:
2 "Mos merr grua dhe mos ki bij e bija në këtë vend".
3 Sepse kështu thotë Zoti për bijtë dhe bijat që kanë lindur në këtë vend dhe për nënat që i kanë pjellë dhe për etërit që i kanë zënë në këtë vend:
4 "Ata do të vdesin nga një vdekje rrëqethëse; nuk do të qahen dhe nuk do të varrosen, por do t’i lënë si pleh mbi faqen e dheut; do të shfarosen nga shpata dhe nga uria, dhe kufomat e tyre do të shërbejnë si ushqim për shpendët e qiellit dhe për kafshët e tokës".
5 Sepse kështu thotë Zoti: "Mos hyni në shtëpinë e zisë dhe mos shkoni për ngushëllime dhe për t’i vajtuar, sepse unë kam hequr nga ky popull paqen time, mirësinë time dhe mëshirën time," thotë Zoti.
6 "Të mëdhenj dhe të vegjël do të vdesin në këtë vend; nuk do të varrosen as do të mbahet zia për ata, nuk do të bëhen prerje as qethje flokësh për ta.
7 Nuk do të thyhet buka për ata që mbajnë zi për t’i ngushëlluar për një të vdekur dhe nuk do t’u jepet për të pirë gota e ngushëllimit për atin e tyre dhe nënën e tyre.
8 Mos hyni as në një shtëpi banketi për t’u ulur bashkë me ta për të ngrënë dhe për të pirë".
9 Sepse kështu thotë Zoti i ushtrive, Perëndia i Izraelit: "Ja, unë do të bëj që të pushojë në këtë vend, para syve tuaj dhe në ditët tuaja, britma e gëzimit dhe britma e ngazëllimit, zëri i dhëndrit dhe zëri i nuses.
10 Dhe ka për të ndodhur që kur t’i shpallësh këtij populli tërë këto gjëra, do të të thonë: "Pse Zoti ka shqiptuar kundër nesh tërë këtë mjerim të madh? Cila është paudhësia jonë? Cili është mëkati që kemi kryer kundër Zotit, Perëndisë tonë?".
11 Atëherë ti do t’u përgjigjesh atyre: Sepse etërit tuaj më kanë braktisur," thotë Zoti, "kanë shkuar pas perëndive të tjera, u kanë shërbyer dhe kanë rënë përmbys para tyre, më kanë braktisur mua dhe nuk kanë respektuar ligjin tim.
12 Dhe ju keni vepruar më keq se etërit tuaj, sepse ja, secili vepron sipas kryeneçësisë së zemrës së tij të keqe dhe nuk pranon të më dëgjojë.
13 Prandaj unë do t’ju dëboj nga ky vend në një vend që as ju, as etërit tuaj nuk keni njohur dhe atje do t’u shërbeni perëndive të tjera ditën e natën, sepse unë nuk do t’ju fal".
14 "Prandaj ja, po vijnë ditët," thotë Zoti, "në të cilat nuk do të thuhet më: "Për Zotin e gjallë që nxori bijtë e Izraelit nga vendi i Egjiptit,"
15 por: "Për Zotin e gjallë që nxori bijtë e Izraelit nga vendi i veriut dhe nga tërë vendet ku i kishte shpërndarë". Dhe unë do t’i çoj përsëri në vendin që u kisha dhënë etërve të tyre.
16 Ja, unë do të dërgoj një numër të madh peshkatarësh për t’i peshkuar," thotë Zoti, "dhe pastaj do të dërgoj një numër të madh gjahtarësh për t’i gjuajtur në çdo mal, në çdo kodër dhe në të çarat e shkëmbinjve.
17 Sepse sytë e mi janë mbi të gjitha rrugët e tyre, që nuk janë të fshehura nga fytyra ime, dhe paudhësitë e tyre nuk mbeten të fshehura para syve të mi.
18 Para së gjithash do t’i shpaguaj dyfish për paudhësinë dhe mëkatin e tyre, sepse kanë përdhosur vendin tim me kufomat e idhujve të tyre të neveritshëm dhe e kanë mbushur trashëgiminë time me gjërat e tyre të neveritshme".
19 O Zot, forca ime, kalaja ime dhe streha ime ditën e fatkeqësisë, te ti do të vijnë kombet nga skajet e tokës dhe do të thonë: "Etërit tanë kanë trashëguar vetëm gënjeshtra, kotësi dhe gjëra që nuk vlejnë asgjë".
20 "A mundet të shpikë njeriu perëndi, që në të vërtetë nuk janë perëndi?
21 Prandaj ja, këtë radhë do t’u bëj të njohur atyre, do t’u tregoj dorën time dhe fuqinë time; dhe ata do të mësojnë që emri im është Zoti".

16 След това дойде слово Господне към мене. И Господ ми каза: 2 „Не си взимай жена и да нямаш ни синове, ни дъщери на това място.“ 3 Защото така казва Господ за синовете и дъщерите, които ще се родят на това място, и за майките им, които ще ги родят, и за бащите им, които ще ги произведат в тази страна: 4 (A)„Те ще умрат от мъчителна смърт, няма да бъдат оплакани, нито погребани. Ще бъдат тор по лицето на земята. Ще загинат от меч и глад, а техните тела ще бъдат за храна на птиците и за зверовете по земята.“
5 Защото така казва Господ: „Не влизай в дом, където има жалеене, и не отивай да плачеш и да им даваш утеха, понеже отнех благосклонността Си от този народ – казва Господ, – Моята милост и съжаление. 6 И големи, и малки ще умрат в тази страна, няма да бъдат погребани, нито ще ги оплачат, нито ще се самонараняват, нито ще стрижат главите си заради тях, 7 (B)нито ще разчупват хляб за оплакване, за да утешат някого за умрелия, и няма да подадат чаша за утеха за баща им или за майка им. 8 Не влизай в дом на гощавка, да седиш с тях, да ядеш и да пиеш.“ 9 (C)Защото така казва Господ Вседържител, Израилевият Бог: „Ето Аз ще направя да замлъкнат на това място – пред очите ви и във вашите дни – гласът на младоженеца и гласът на невестата.“

10 (D)Когато известиш на този народ всички тези думи, а хората те попитат: „Защо Господ е предвъзвестил срещу нас това голямо бедствие и каква е вината ни, какъв е грехът ни, с който сме съгрешили против Господа, нашия Бог?“, 11 (E)тогава да им кажеш: „Понеже вашите бащи Ме изоставиха – казва Господ – и тръгнаха след други богове, и им служеха, и им се покланяха, а Мене изоставиха и не спазиха Моя закон, 12 а вие вършихте по-голямо зло от предците си, защото вървите всеки по своеволието на своето зло сърце, така че не Ме слушате. 13 Затова от тази страна Аз ще ви изхвърля в страна, която нито вие, нито предците ви сте познавали, и там ще служите на други богове денем и нощем, защото няма да окажа милост към вас.
14 (F)(G)Затова идват дни – казва Господ, – когато вече няма да кажат: ‘Жив е Господ, Който изведе израилтяните от египетската земя’, 15 но: ‘Жив е Господ, Който изведе израилтяните от северната страна, от всички страни, където ги беше изгонил!’“ Тогава ще ги върна в земята, която дадох на предците им.
16 „Ето ще изпратя много рибари – казва Господ – и те ще ги уловят, а след това ще изпратя за много ловци и те ще ги ловят по всяка планина и по всяка височина, и по скалните процепи, 17 защото Аз виждам всичките им пътища. Те не са скрити от лицето Ми и тяхната вина не е прикрита пред очите Ми. 18 И ще им въздам най-напред за тяхната неправда и за техните грехове, защото оскверниха Моята страна двойно – напълниха наследството Ми с безжизнените си идоли и с мерзостите си.“
19 Йеремия се помоли: „Господи, моя сила, моя крепост и мое прибежище в скръбен ден! При Тебе ще дойдат народите от земните краища и ще кажат: ‘Нашите предци наследиха само лъжа, суета и онова, от което няма полза. 20 Може ли човек да си направи богове? А те не са богове!’
21 Затова ще ги науча да познават Моята силна ръка и Моята мощ и ще узнаят, че Моето име е Господ.“

16 The word of the Lord came also unto me, saying,
2 Thou shalt not take thee a wife, neither shalt thou have sons or daughters in this place.
3 For thus saith the Lord concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bare them, and concerning their fathers that begat them in this land;
4 They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
5 For thus saith the Lord, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the Lord, even lovingkindness and mercies.
6 Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them:
7 Neither shall men tear themselves for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.
8 Thou shalt not also go into the house of feasting, to sit with them to eat and to drink.
9 For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.
10 And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shew this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the Lord pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?
11 Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the Lord, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;
12 And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me:
13 Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; where I will not shew you favour.
14 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that it shall no more be said, The Lord liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
15 But, The Lord liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.
16 Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the Lord, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.
17 For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes.
18 And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things.
19 O Lord, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.
20 Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods?
21 Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is The Lord.

Day of Disaster
16 Then the word of the Lord came to me: 2 “You must not marry(A) and have sons or daughters in this place.” 3 For this is what the Lord says about the sons and daughters born in this land and about the women who are their mothers and the men who are their fathers:(B) 4 “They will die of deadly diseases. They will not be mourned or buried(C) but will be like dung lying on the ground.(D) They will perish by sword and famine,(E) and their dead bodies will become food for the birds and the wild animals.”(F)
5 For this is what the Lord says: “Do not enter a house where there is a funeral meal; do not go to mourn or show sympathy, because I have withdrawn my blessing, my love and my pity(G) from this people,” declares the Lord. 6 “Both high and low will die in this land.(H) They will not be buried or mourned,(I) and no one will cut(J) themselves or shave(K) their head for the dead. 7 No one will offer food(L) to comfort those who mourn(M) for the dead—not even for a father or a mother—nor will anyone give them a drink to console(N) them.
8 “And do not enter a house where there is feasting and sit down to eat and drink.(O) 9 For this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Before your eyes and in your days I will bring an end to the sounds(P) of joy and gladness and to the voices of bride(Q) and bridegroom in this place.(R)
10 “When you tell these people all this and they ask you, ‘Why has the Lord decreed such a great disaster against us? What wrong have we done? What sin have we committed against the Lord our God?’(S) 11 then say to them, ‘It is because your ancestors forsook me,’ declares the Lord, ‘and followed other gods and served and worshiped(T) them. They forsook me and did not keep my law.(U) 12 But you have behaved more wickedly than your ancestors.(V) See how all of you are following the stubbornness of your evil hearts(W) instead of obeying me. 13 So I will throw you out of this land(X) into a land neither you nor your ancestors have known,(Y) and there you will serve other gods(Z) day and night, for I will show you no favor.’(AA)
14 “However, the days are coming,”(AB) declares the Lord, “when it will no longer be said, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,’(AC) 15 but it will be said, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of the north(AD) and out of all the countries where he had banished them.’(AE) For I will restore(AF) them to the land I gave their ancestors.(AG)
16 “But now I will send for many fishermen,” declares the Lord, “and they will catch them.(AH) After that I will send for many hunters, and they will hunt(AI) them down on every mountain and hill and from the crevices of the rocks.(AJ) 17 My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden(AK) from me, nor is their sin concealed from my eyes.(AL) 18 I will repay(AM) them double(AN) for their wickedness and their sin, because they have defiled my land(AO) with the lifeless forms of their vile images(AP) and have filled my inheritance with their detestable idols.(AQ)”(AR)
19 Lord, my strength and my fortress,
my refuge(AS) in time of distress,
to you the nations will come(AT)
from the ends of the earth and say,
“Our ancestors possessed nothing but false gods,(AU)
worthless idols(AV) that did them no good.(AW)
20 Do people make their own gods?
Yes, but they are not gods!”(AX)
21 “Therefore I will teach them—
this time I will teach them
my power and might.
Then they will know
that my name(AY) is the Lord.
