Mensaje para Baruc
45 Esta es la palabra que el profeta Jeremías comunicó a Baruc, hijo de Nerías, en el año cuarto del gobierno de Joacim, hijo de Josías y rey de Judá, cuando Baruc escribía en un rollo estas palabras que Jeremías dictaba: 2 «Así dice el Señor, Dios de Israel, acerca de ti, Baruc: 3 Tú dijiste: “¡Ay de mí! ¡El Señor añade angustia a mi dolor! Estoy agotado de tanto gemir y no encuentro descanso”.
4 »Pero el Señor me pide decirte: “Voy a destruir lo que he construido y a arrancar lo que he plantado; es decir, arrasaré con toda esta tierra. 5 ¿Buscas grandes cosas para ti? No las pidas, porque voy a provocar una desgracia sobre toda la gente, pero a ti te concederé la posibilidad de conservar la vida dondequiera que vayas. Ese será tu botín”, afirma el Señor».

45 La palabra que habló el profeta Jeremías a Baruc hijo de Nerías, cuando escribía en el libro estas palabras dictadas por Jeremías, en el año cuarto de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, diciendo: 2 «Así te ha dicho Jehová, Dios de Israel, a ti, Baruc: 3 “Tú dijiste: ‘¡Ay de mí ahora!, porque ha añadido Jehová tristeza a mi dolor. Fatigado estoy de gemir, y no he hallado descanso.’” 4 Le dirás: “Así ha dicho Jehová: Yo destruyo a los que edifiqué y arranco a los que planté, esto es, a toda esta tierra, 5 ¿y tú buscas para ti grandezas? ¡No las busques!, porque he aquí que yo traigo mal sobre todo ser viviente, ha dicho Jehová; pero a ti te daré la vida por botín en cualquier lugar adonde vayas.”»

45 The word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch, the son of Neriah, at his writing these words on a scroll from the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, saying,[a] 2 “Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, to you, O Baruch: 3 ‘You said, “Woe please to me, for Yahweh has added sorrow to my pain. I am weary in my groaning and I do not find rest.”’ 4 Thus you will say to him: ‘Thus says Yahweh, “Look, what I have built I am about to tear down, and what I have planted I am about to pluck up, it is all the land. 5 And you, do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek great things,[b] for look, I am about to bring disaster upon all flesh,” declares[c] Yahweh, “but to you I will give your life as booty in all the places where you may go.”’”

45 The word that Jeremiah the prophet spake unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,
2 Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, unto thee, O Baruch:
3 Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the Lord hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.
4 Thus shalt thou say unto him, The Lord saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.
5 And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.
