Jeremías 15:8-10

8 Habrá tantas viudas en el pueblo,
como arena hay en el mar;
¡a plena luz del día destruiré
a las madres de hijos jóvenes!
De repente enviaré contra ellas
la angustia y el terror.
9 Las que hayan tenido muchos hijos
se desmayarán y perderán la vida.
Quedarán humilladas y en vergüenza,
pues la brillante luz del día
se les volverá densa oscuridad.
¡Yo dejaré que sus enemigos
maten a los que queden con vida!
Les juro que así será».

10 Jeremías dijo:
«¡Sufro mucho, madre mía!
¡Mejor no hubiera yo nacido!
A nadie le hice daño,
pero todos me maldicen
y me acusan de rebelde.

En pleno mediodía hice caer la muerte

avergonzadas y humilladas,
la luz del día se les vuelve oscuridad.
Si algunos quedan con vida,
haré que sus enemigos los maten.
Yo, el Señor, doy mi palabra.»

10 ¡Ay de mí, madre mía, que me diste a luz
sólo para disputar y pelear con todo el mundo!
A nadie he prestado dinero, ni me lo han prestado a mí,

Jeremiah 15:8-10

8 Their widows[a] will be more numerous before me than the sand of the seas.
I have brought to them, against the mothers[b] of young men,[c]
a destroyer at noon.
I will suddenly drop on her anguish and horror.[d]
9 She who gave birth to seven has withered away.
She gasps her breath.
Her sun set[e] while still day.
She has been put to shame and disgraced.
And the remainder of them I will give to the sword
before[f] their enemies,” declares[g] Yahweh.
Jeremiah’s Lament and Yahweh’s Response
10 Woe to me, O my mother, that you gave birth to me,
a man of contention and quarreling to the whole land.[h]
I have not lent out and I have not borrowed.[i]
All of them are cursing me.
