陶器師の家
18 主からエレミヤに、次のようなことばがありました。 2 「さあ、陶器を作っている者の家に行きなさい。そこで、おまえに話そう。」 3 言われたとおりにすると、陶器師はろくろを回している最中でした。 4 ところが、彼は手がけていたつぼが気に入らなかったので、それをつぶして粘土のかたまりに戻し、初めからやり直しました。
5 その時、主が語りました。
6 「イスラエルよ。この陶器師と同じことを、わたしがおまえたちにできないというのか。陶器師の手の中に粘土があるように、おまえたちもわたしの手の中にある。 7 わたしが、一つの国が引き抜かれて滅ぼされると言ったとき、 8 その国が悪の道を捨てるなら、わたしは予定を変更して、その国を滅ぼすのをやめる。 9 また、わたしが、ある国を強くすると言ったとしても、 10 その国が途中で考えを変えて悪の道に走り、わたしに従わなくなれば、わたしも考えを変えて、祝福の約束を撤回する。 11 だから出かけて行って、ユダとエルサレムの全住民に、こう警告しなさい。さあ、神のことばを聞きなさい。わたしは今おまえたちのために、良いことではなく悪いことを計画している。だから悪の道を捨て、正しいことを行うのだ。」 12 ところが彼らは、こう答えました。「おせっかいはやめてくれ。神の言われたことを行う気など全くない。私たちはだれからも束縛されない。強情を張りとおし、悪を身につけたまま、いつまでも好き勝手な生活をしたい。」
13 そのとき、主はこう言いました。
「たとえ異教の民の間でも、
こんなことを聞いた者はいない。
考えただけでもおぞましいことを
わたしの民がしたのだ。
14 レバノン山頂の雪は決してとけず、
ヘルモン山から流れ下る冷たい水は決してかれない。
15 これらのものは、いつもあてにできる。
ところがわたしの民は、全くあてにならない。
彼らはわたしを置き去りにし、
むなしい偶像のもとに走った。
昔からの正しい道をはずれ、罪の泥沼に迷い込んだ。
16 そのため、国は荒れ果て、
そこを通る人は思わず息をのみ、
あまりにもすさまじい光景に驚いて頭を振る。
17 わたしはわたしの民を、
東風がちりを巻き上げるように、敵の前でまき散らす。
彼らがどんなに悩んでも、知らないふりをし、
彼らの苦しみを心に留めない。」
18 すると、人々はこう相談しました。「エレミヤを殺してしまおう。われわれには、祭司や学者、それに預言者がついている。彼の忠告などいらない。二度とわれわれに不利なことを語り、われわれを苦しめないように、彼の口を封じよう。」
19 ああ主よ、私を助けてください。
彼らが私にどんなことをしようとしているか、
見てください。
20 彼らは、悪をもって善に報いようとするのですか。
彼らは私を殺そうと、罠をしかけました。
それでも私は神に、彼らのことを良く伝え、
何とかして、神の怒りが彼らに向かないように
努力しました。
21 神よ、彼らの子どもを飢え死にさせてください。
彼らを剣にかけてください。
彼らの妻を未亡人とし、
子どもを一人残らず奪ってください。
男は疫病で死なせ、
若者は戦場で倒れさせてください。
22 兵士の一隊が不意に襲うとき、
彼らの家から泣き叫ぶ声が聞こえますように。
彼らは落とし穴を掘り、
私の歩く道に、こっそり罠をしかけたからです。
23 主よ。
あなたは、私を殺そうとする彼らの計画をご存じです。
彼らを赦さないでください。
彼らの罪を赦さず、御前で滅ぼしてください。
彼らに御怒りをもって罰してください。
19 1-2 主はこう語りました。「粘土で作ったつぼを買い、都の南東にある瀬戸のかけらの門に近いベン・ヒノムの谷へ持って行きなさい。長老と年長の祭司を数人連れて行き、わたしがあなたに伝えることは何でも語るのだ。」
3 主は彼らにこう語りかけました。「ユダの王とエルサレムの市民よ、わたしのことばを聞け。わたしはイスラエルの神、天の軍勢の主だ。わたしはこの地に恐ろしい災害をもたらす。それは想像を絶するほど恐ろしく、それを聞く者の耳は刺されたように痛む。 4 イスラエルがわたしを捨て、この谷を恥と悪でいっぱいにしたからだ。この民は、今の世代の者も先祖も、またユダの諸王も拝んだことのない偶像に香をたき、この地を罪のない子どもたちの血で満たした。 5 バアルのために高い祭壇を築き、自分の子をいけにえとして焼いたのだ。こんなことは、命じもしなければ考えもしなかったことだ。 6 だから、この谷が『トフェテ』でも『ベン・ヒノム』でもなく、『虐殺の谷』と呼ばれる日がくる。 7 わたしはユダとエルサレムの作戦の裏をかき、侵入して来る軍隊におまえたちを殺させ、死体をはげたかと野獣のえじきとするからだ。 8 また、わたしがエルサレムを地上から一掃するので、通り過ぎる人はみな、わたしがこの町にしたことを見て、驚きのあまり息をのむだろう。 9 敵が町を包囲するので食糧はなくなり、閉じ込められた者が自分の子や友人の肉を食べるようになる。
10 エレミヤよ。連れの者たちの前で、持って来たつぼを砕き、 11 天の軍勢の主のことばだと言って、こう伝えなさい。このつぼが粉々になったように、わたしはエルサレムの市民を粉々にする。つぼが元どおりにならないように、彼らも元どおりにならない。殺される人があまりにも多いので、埋葬する場所もなくなり、ついには、死体がこの谷に山積みになる。 12 それと同じことをエルサレムでもするので、そこも死体であふれる。 13 わたしはエルサレムのすべての家を汚す。その中には、ユダ王国の王宮や屋上で星の神々に香をたき、ぶどう酒を注いだ家々もある。」
14 エレミヤは、以上のことをトフェテで伝えたのち、市内に戻り、神殿の前で、全市民に言いました。 15 イスラエルの神である天の軍勢の主のことばだ。「わたしはこの町と周囲の町々に、約束どおり災いを下す。おまえたちが強情を張り、わたしのことばを聞こうとしなかったからだ。」
エレミヤとパシュフル
20 神殿を管理する祭司であるイメルの子パシュフルは、エレミヤの語ることを聞くと、 2 彼を逮捕してむちで打たせ、神殿に近いベニヤミンの門にある足かせにつなぎました。 3 エレミヤは、一晩中そこにさらされたのです。翌日、パシュフルがエレミヤを釈放すると、エレミヤは言いました。「パシュフル、主はあなたの名を変えました。あなたはこれからは『おびえながら生きる者』と呼ばれるようになる、と主は言われます。 4 主があなたとあなたの友人に、恐怖を与えるからです。あなたは、友人が敵の剣で殺されるのを見るでしょう。主はこう断言します。『わたしはユダをバビロンの王に引き渡す。王はこの民を奴隷としてバビロンへ連れて行き、そこで殺す。 5 またわたしは、敵にエルサレムを略奪させる。この町の財宝は、王の宝石や金銀もろとも、遠くバビロンへと運ばれる。 6 パシュフルよ。おまえと家族、一族の者どもはみなバビロンで奴隷となり、そこで死ぬ。おまえをはじめ、万事うまくいくという、うその預言を聞いた者もみな、同じ運命に会う。』」
エレミヤの不満
7 その時、私はこう言いました。
ああ主よ。
あなたは、助けようと約束しておきながら、
私を欺きました。
神は私より強い方なので、
おことばを伝えないわけにはいきません。
ところが今、私は町中の笑いものになり、
だれからもさげすまれています。
8 神は、私が彼らに優しいことばをかけることを、
ただの一度も許しませんでした。
私が話すのは、
いつも災害や恐怖、それに滅亡のことだけでした。
彼らが私をあざけり、さげすみ、
もの笑いの種にするのは当然です。
9 ところが、私は神の使者になることを
やめるわけにはいきません。
二度と主のことを口にしないでおこう、
これ以上、神の名によって語るのはやめようと言うと、
私の心のうちにある神のことばは、
まるで火のように骨の中で燃えています。
そのため、苦しくてたまりません。
10 そのうえ、四方八方から脅す声が聞こえるので、
私はおじけづきます。
「彼を訴えてやろう」と、彼らは言います。
かつての友人でさえ、
私がつまずき倒れるのを待っています。
「きっと彼は、自分でしかけた罠に落ちる。
そうしたら、うんと仕返ししてやろう」と
てぐすね引いて待っているのです。
11 しかし主は、偉大な勇士のように
私のそばに立っています。
この力ある恐ろしいお方の前で、
彼らは縮み上がります。彼らは私に歯が立ちません。
かえって恥をかき、徹底的に屈辱感を味わい、
一生、汚名を着せられるようになります。
12 ああ、天の軍勢の主よ。
正しい者を見分け、
人の心の奥底にある思いを調べるお方よ。
いっさいをお任せしますから、
あなたが彼らに復讐してください。
13 神よ、ありがとうございます。
私は神をたたえ、ほめ歌います。
困りきって哀れなこの私を、
迫害する者の手から救い出してくださったからです。
14 けれども、やはり、
私は自分が誕生した日をのろいたくなります。
15 父に、男の子が生まれたと報告した人は、
のろわれるがいい。
16 神が少しも手かげんせずに
打ち倒した昔の町々のように、滅ぼされてしまえ。
一日中、戦いの叫び声を聞いて
おじけづけばいいのだ。
17 私が生まれた時に、
私を殺してくれなかったからだ。
母の胎内にいる時に死に、
そこが私の墓となっていたら、どんなによかったか。
18 どうして、私は生まれて来たのだろう。
悩みと悲しみと恥ばかりの一生だったのに。

At the Potter’s House
18 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” 3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. 4 But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.
5 Then the word of the Lord came to me. 6 He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay(A) in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand,(B) Israel. 7 If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted,(C) torn down and destroyed, 8 and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent(D) and not inflict on it the disaster(E) I had planned. 9 And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built(F) up and planted, 10 and if it does evil(G) in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider(H) the good I had intended to do for it.(I)
11 “Now therefore say to the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, ‘This is what the Lord says: Look! I am preparing a disaster(J) for you and devising a plan(K) against you. So turn(L) from your evil ways,(M) each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions.’(N) 12 But they will reply, ‘It’s no use.(O) We will continue with our own plans; we will all follow the stubbornness of our evil hearts.(P)’”
13 Therefore this is what the Lord says:
“Inquire among the nations:
Who has ever heard anything like this?(Q)
A most horrible(R) thing has been done
by Virgin(S) Israel.
14 Does the snow of Lebanon
ever vanish from its rocky slopes?
Do its cool waters from distant sources
ever stop flowing?[a]
15 Yet my people have forgotten(T) me;
they burn incense(U) to worthless idols,(V)
which made them stumble(W) in their ways,
in the ancient paths.(X)
They made them walk in byways,
on roads not built up.(Y)
16 Their land will be an object of horror(Z)
and of lasting scorn;(AA)
all who pass by will be appalled(AB)
and will shake their heads.(AC)
17 Like a wind(AD) from the east,
I will scatter them before their enemies;
I will show them my back and not my face(AE)
in the day of their disaster.”
18 They said, “Come, let’s make plans(AF) against Jeremiah; for the teaching of the law by the priest(AG) will not cease, nor will counsel from the wise,(AH) nor the word from the prophets.(AI) So come, let’s attack him with our tongues(AJ) and pay no attention to anything he says.”
19 Listen to me, Lord;
hear what my accusers(AK) are saying!
20 Should good be repaid with evil?(AL)
Yet they have dug a pit(AM) for me.
Remember that I stood(AN) before you
and spoke in their behalf(AO)
to turn your wrath away from them.
21 So give their children over to famine;(AP)
hand them over to the power of the sword.(AQ)
Let their wives be made childless and widows;(AR)
let their men be put to death,
their young men(AS) slain by the sword in battle.
22 Let a cry(AT) be heard from their houses
when you suddenly bring invaders against them,
for they have dug a pit(AU) to capture me
and have hidden snares(AV) for my feet.
23 But you, Lord, know
all their plots to kill(AW) me.
Do not forgive(AX) their crimes
or blot out their sins from your sight.
Let them be overthrown before you;
deal with them in the time of your anger.(AY)
19 This is what the Lord says: “Go and buy a clay jar from a potter.(AZ) Take along some of the elders(BA) of the people and of the priests 2 and go out to the Valley of Ben Hinnom,(BB) near the entrance of the Potsherd Gate. There proclaim the words I tell you, 3 and say, ‘Hear the word of the Lord, you kings(BC) of Judah and people of Jerusalem. This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Listen! I am going to bring a disaster(BD) on this place that will make the ears of everyone who hears of it tingle.(BE) 4 For they have forsaken(BF) me and made this a place of foreign gods(BG); they have burned incense(BH) in it to gods that neither they nor their ancestors nor the kings of Judah ever knew, and they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent.(BI) 5 They have built the high places of Baal to burn their children(BJ) in the fire as offerings to Baal—something I did not command or mention, nor did it enter my mind.(BK) 6 So beware, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when people will no longer call this place Topheth(BL) or the Valley of Ben Hinnom,(BM) but the Valley of Slaughter.(BN)
7 “‘In this place I will ruin[b] the plans(BO) of Judah and Jerusalem. I will make them fall by the sword before their enemies,(BP) at the hands of those who want to kill them, and I will give their carcasses(BQ) as food(BR) to the birds and the wild animals. 8 I will devastate this city and make it an object of horror and scorn;(BS) all who pass by will be appalled(BT) and will scoff because of all its wounds.(BU) 9 I will make them eat(BV) the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another’s flesh because their enemies(BW) will press the siege so hard against them to destroy them.’
10 “Then break the jar(BX) while those who go with you are watching, 11 and say to them, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: I will smash(BY) this nation and this city just as this potter’s jar is smashed and cannot be repaired. They will bury(BZ) the dead in Topheth until there is no more room. 12 This is what I will do to this place and to those who live here, declares the Lord. I will make this city like Topheth. 13 The houses(CA) in Jerusalem and those of the kings of Judah will be defiled(CB) like this place, Topheth—all the houses where they burned incense on the roofs(CC) to all the starry hosts(CD) and poured out drink offerings(CE) to other gods.’”
14 Jeremiah then returned from Topheth, where the Lord had sent him to prophesy, and stood in the court(CF) of the Lord’s temple and said to all the people, 15 “This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘Listen! I am going to bring on this city and all the villages around it every disaster(CG) I pronounced against them, because they were stiff-necked(CH) and would not listen(CI) to my words.’”
Jeremiah and Pashhur
20 When the priest Pashhur son of Immer,(CJ) the official(CK) in charge of the temple of the Lord, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things, 2 he had Jeremiah the prophet beaten(CL) and put in the stocks(CM) at the Upper Gate of Benjamin(CN) at the Lord’s temple. 3 The next day, when Pashhur released him from the stocks, Jeremiah said to him, “The Lord’s name(CO) for you is not Pashhur, but Terror on Every Side.(CP) 4 For this is what the Lord says: ‘I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends; with your own eyes(CQ) you will see them fall by the sword of their enemies. I will give(CR) all Judah into the hands of the king of Babylon, who will carry(CS) them away to Babylon or put them to the sword. 5 I will deliver all the wealth(CT) of this city into the hands of their enemies—all its products, all its valuables and all the treasures of the kings of Judah. They will take it away(CU) as plunder and carry it off to Babylon. 6 And you, Pashhur, and all who live in your house will go into exile to Babylon. There you will die and be buried, you and all your friends to whom you have prophesied(CV) lies.’”
Jeremiah’s Complaint
7 You deceived[c](CW) me, Lord, and I was deceived[d];
you overpowered(CX) me and prevailed.
I am ridiculed(CY) all day long;
everyone mocks(CZ) me.
8 Whenever I speak, I cry out
proclaiming violence and destruction.(DA)
So the word of the Lord has brought me
insult and reproach(DB) all day long.
9 But if I say, “I will not mention his word
or speak anymore in his name,”(DC)
his word is in my heart like a fire,(DD)
a fire shut up in my bones.
I am weary of holding it in;(DE)
indeed, I cannot.
10 I hear many whispering,
“Terror(DF) on every side!
Denounce(DG) him! Let’s denounce him!”
All my friends(DH)
are waiting for me to slip,(DI) saying,
“Perhaps he will be deceived;
then we will prevail(DJ) over him
and take our revenge(DK) on him.”
11 But the Lord(DL) is with me like a mighty warrior;
so my persecutors(DM) will stumble and not prevail.(DN)
They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced;(DO)
their dishonor will never be forgotten.
12 Lord Almighty, you who examine the righteous
and probe the heart and mind,(DP)
let me see your vengeance(DQ) on them,
for to you I have committed(DR) my cause.
13 Sing(DS) to the Lord!
Give praise to the Lord!
He rescues(DT) the life of the needy
from the hands of the wicked.(DU)
14 Cursed be the day I was born!(DV)
May the day my mother bore me not be blessed!
15 Cursed be the man who brought my father the news,
who made him very glad, saying,
“A child is born to you—a son!”
16 May that man be like the towns(DW)
the Lord overthrew without pity.
May he hear wailing(DX) in the morning,
a battle cry at noon.
17 For he did not kill me in the womb,(DY)
with my mother as my grave,
her womb enlarged forever.
18 Why did I ever come out of the womb(DZ)
to see trouble(EA) and sorrow
and to end my days in shame?(EB)

17 ひとしきり語り終えられると、イエスは天を見上げて言われました。「父よ。いよいよ時が来ました。わたしがあなたに栄光をお返しできるように、わたしの栄光を現してください。 2 地上のすべての人を支配する権威をわたしに下さったので、こうして、あなたから任せられた一人一人に、永遠のいのちを与えられるのです。 3 ただ一人のまことの神であるあなたと、あなたがこの地上にお遣わしになったわたしを知ること、それが永遠のいのちを得る道です。 4 わたしはあなたに言われたとおりを成し遂げ、地上であなたの栄光を現しました。 5 父よ。今こそあなたの前で、わたしの栄光を現してください。世界が造られる前から、ごいっしょに持っていたあの栄光で、わたしを輝かせてください。
6 あなたのことはすべて、この人たちに話しました。彼らはこの世にいましたが、あなたが世から選び出し、わたしに下さったのです。いつもあなたのものである彼らを、わたしに下さったのです。彼らはあなたのおことばを守りました。 7 いま彼らは、わたしの持っているものはみな、あなたからの贈り物であることを知っています。 8 わたしがあなたのおことばを伝えたからです。彼らはそれを受け入れ、確かにわたしがあなたのもとからこの地上に遣わされて来たのだと信じています。 9 父よ。お願いがあります。もちろん、世のためではなく、あなたがわたしに下さった者たちのためです。彼らはあなたのものなのですから。 10 彼らはみな、わたしのもの、また、あなたのものです。あなたは彼らを、他のすべてのものといっしょにわたしに下さいました。ですから、彼らはわたしの栄光なのです。 11 わたしは世を去り、あなたのもとに帰ります。彼らをあとに残して……。ああ、父よ。この人たちが一人も脱落しないように守ってください。わたしと父が一つであるように、彼らも一つとならせてください。 12 彼らがわたしといっしょにいた間は、あなたの家族として、一人一人を安全に守りました。滅びないように、いつも見守りました。ただ地獄の子だけが滅びました。聖書に言われていたことが実現するためです。 13 今わたしは、みもとにまいります。彼らの心がわたしと同じ喜びでいっぱいになるように、いっしょにいる間は、できるだけのことを話しました。 14 あなたの命令も伝えました。するとどうでしょう。世の人は彼らを憎んだのです。わたしと同じように、彼らもこの世と調子を合わせようとしないからです。 15 彼らをこの世から取り去ってくださいとはお願いしません。ただ、サタンから守ってください。 16 わたしと同じように、彼らもこの世のものではありません。 17 あなたの真理のことばによって、彼らを純粋な、きよい者としてください。 18 あなたがわたしを世にお遣わしになったように、わたしも彼らを世に遣わします。 19 また、彼らが真理を知る、きよい者として成長できるように、この身をささげます。
20 この人たちのことだけでなく、この人たちの証言を聞いて、わたしを信じるすべての人のためにも祈ります。 21 父よ。お願いです。あなたとわたしが一つであるように、彼らも一つの心、一つの思いとなりますように。あなたがわたしのうちにおられ、わたしがあなたのうちにいるのと同じように、彼らもわたしたちのうちにいさせてください。それを見て、あなたがわたしをお遣わしになったことを、世の人々が信じますように。 22 あなたが下さった栄光を、わたしは彼らに与えました。わたしと父が一つであるように、彼らにも完全な一致を保ってほしかったからです。 23 わたしが彼らのうちにおり、あなたがわたしのうちにおられて初めて、みな完全に一つになるのです。その時、世の人々は、あなたがわたしをお遣わしになったことを知り、わたしだけでなく彼らも、あなたが愛しておられることを認めざるをえなくなるのです。 24 父よ。彼らがわたしといっしょにいることができるようにしてください。彼らにわたしの栄光を見させてください。世界の造られる前からわたしを愛しておられた、あなたが下さった栄光を。 25 ああ、父よ。すべての事において正しい父よ。世はあなたを知りません。けれども、わたしはあなたを知っています。この弟子たちも、あなたがわたしをお遣わしになったことを知っています。 26 わたしが教えたのです。これからも教えます。あなたの大きな愛が彼らをつつみ、わたしも彼らのうちにいられるように。」

Jesus Prays to Be Glorified
17 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven(A) and prayed:
“Father, the hour has come.(B) Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.(C) 2 For you granted him authority over all people(D) that he might give eternal life(E) to all those you have given him.(F) 3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you,(G) the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.(H) 4 I have brought you glory(I) on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.(J) 5 And now, Father, glorify me(K) in your presence with the glory I had with you(L) before the world began.(M)
Jesus Prays for His Disciples
6 “I have revealed you[a](N) to those whom you gave me(O) out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. 7 Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 8 For I gave them the words you gave me(P) and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you,(Q) and they believed that you sent me.(R) 9 I pray for them.(S) I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me,(T) for they are yours. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine.(U) And glory has come to me through them. 11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world,(V) and I am coming to you.(W) Holy Father, protect them by the power of[b] your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one(X) as we are one.(Y) 12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by[c] that name you gave me. None has been lost(Z) except the one doomed to destruction(AA) so that Scripture would be fulfilled.(AB)
13 “I am coming to you now,(AC) but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy(AD) within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them,(AE) for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.(AF) 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.(AG) 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.(AH) 17 Sanctify them by[d] the truth; your word is truth.(AI) 18 As you sent me into the world,(AJ) I have sent them into the world.(AK) 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.(AL)
Jesus Prays for All Believers
20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one,(AM) Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.(AN) May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.(AO) 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me,(AP) that they may be one as we are one(AQ)— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me(AR) and have loved them(AS) even as you have loved me.
24 “Father, I want those you have given me(AT) to be with me where I am,(AU) and to see my glory,(AV) the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.(AW)
25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you,(AX) I know you, and they know that you have sent me.(AY) 26 I have made you[e] known to them,(AZ) and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them(BA) and that I myself may be in them.”
