an object of horror and scorn,^(B)
    a place where no one lives.^(C)

²² Listen! The report is coming—
    a great commotion from the land of the north!^(A)
It will make the towns of Judah desolate,^(B)
    a haunt of jackals.^(C)

¹³ Thorns^(A) will overrun her citadels,
    nettles and brambles her strongholds.^(B)
She will become a haunt for jackals,^(C)
    a home for owls.^(D)

²² Hyenas^(A) will inhabit her strongholds,^(B)
    jackals^(C) her luxurious palaces.
Her time is at hand,^(D)
    and her days will not be prolonged.^(E)

    She has become a dwelling for demons
and a haunt for every impure spirit,^(B)
