¹⁹ Listen to the cry of my people
    from a land far away:^(A)
“Is the Lord not in Zion?
    Is her King^(B) no longer there?”

“Why have they aroused^(C) my anger with their images,
    with their worthless^(D) foreign idols?”^(E)

⁵ They come from faraway lands,
    from the ends of the heavens^(A)—
the Lord and the weapons^(B) of his wrath^(C)—
    to destroy^(D) the whole country.

¹⁷ But on Mount Zion will be deliverance;^(A)
    it will be holy,^(B)
    and Jacob will possess his inheritance.^(C)

²¹ Shall I leave their innocent blood unavenged?^(A)
    No, I will not.^(B)”

⁶ There will be a day when watchmen^(A) cry out
    on the hills of Ephraim,
‘Come, let us go up to Zion,
    to the Lord our God.’”^(B)

¹⁹ Have you rejected Judah completely?^(A)
    Do you despise Zion?
Why have you afflicted us
    so that we cannot be healed?^(B)
We hoped for peace
    but no good has come,
for a time of healing
    but there is only terror.^(C)
