³⁰ “‘The people of Judah have done evil^(A) in my eyes, declares the Lord. They have set up their detestable idols^(B) in the house that bears my Name and have defiled^(C) it.

³⁴ They set up their vile images^(A) in the house that bears my Name^(B) and defiled^(C) it.

²⁷ He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’^[a] In the middle of the ‘seven’^[b] he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple^[c] he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed^(A) is poured out on him.^[d]”^[e]

⁷ He took the image he had made and put it in God’s temple,^(A) of which God had said to David and to his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my Name forever.

⁴ He built altars in the temple of the Lord, of which the Lord had said, “My Name^(A) will remain in Jerusalem forever.” ⁵ In both courts of the temple of the Lord,^(B) he built altars to all the starry hosts.

⁷ He took the carved Asherah pole^(A) he had made and put it in the temple,^(B) of which the Lord had said to David and to his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my Name^(C) forever.

⁴ He built altars^(A) in the temple of the Lord, of which the Lord had said, “In Jerusalem I will put my Name.”^(B)

⁷ He said: “Son of man, this is the place of my throne^(A) and the place for the soles of my feet. This is where I will live among the Israelites forever. The people of Israel will never again defile^(B) my holy name—neither they nor their kings—by their prostitution and the funeral offerings^[a] for their kings at their death.^{[b](C) 8} When they placed their threshold next to my threshold and their doorposts beside my doorposts, with only a wall between me and them, they defiled my holy name by their detestable practices. So I destroyed them in my anger.
