³ Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: ^(A)“Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.

¹³ Now therefore, ^(A)amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the Lord your God; then the Lord will relent concerning the doom that He has pronounced against you.

¹¹ “Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. ^(A)Return now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings ^(B)good.” ’ ”

⁴ then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet and does ^(A)not take warning, if the sword comes and takes him away, ^(B)his blood shall be on his own head. ⁵ He heard the sound of the trumpet, but did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But he who takes warning will ^[a]save his life. ⁶ But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, ^(C)he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.’

^7 (D)“So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me. ⁸ When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you shall surely die!’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. ⁹ Nevertheless if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have ^[b]delivered your soul.

¹⁰ “Therefore you, O son of man, say to the house of Israel: ‘Thus you say, “If our transgressions and our sins lie upon us, and we ^(E)pine^[c] away in them, ^(F)how can we then live?” ’ ¹¹ Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ^(G)‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked ^(H)turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For ^(I)why should you die, O house of Israel?’

^30 (A)“Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord God. ^(B)“Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. ^31 (C)Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a ^(D)new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel?

⁵ “For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, if you thoroughly ^(A)execute ^[a]judgment between a man and his neighbor, ⁶ if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, ^(B)or walk after other gods to your hurt, ^7 (C)then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in ^(D)the land that I gave to your fathers forever and ever.
