⁵ “Up, and let us attack by night,
    and destroy her palaces!”^(A)

¹⁴ For the palace will be forsaken,
    the populous city deserted;
the hill and the watchtower
    will become dens forever,
the joy of wild asses,
    a pasture for flocks;^(A)

¹⁰ They do not know how to do right, says the Lord,
    those who store up violence and robbery in their strongholds.^(A)
11 Therefore thus says the Lord God:
An adversary shall surround the land
    and strip you of your defense,
    and your strongholds shall be plundered.^(B)

⁵ So I will send a fire on Judah,
    and it shall devour the strongholds of Jerusalem.^(A)

¹⁴ Israel has forgotten his Maker
    and built palaces,
and Judah has multiplied fortified cities,
    but I will send a fire upon his cities,
    and it shall devour his strongholds.^(A)

²¹ “Death has come up into our windows;
    it has entered our palaces
to cut off the children from the streets
    and the young men from the squares.”^(A)

³ Within its citadels God
    has shown himself a sure defense.^(A)
