²³ But this people has a stubborn and rebellious heart;
    they have turned aside and gone away.^(A)

²⁸ They are all stubbornly rebellious,
    going about with slanders;
they are bronze and iron;
    all of them act corruptly.^(A)

⁷ My people are bent on turning away from me.
    To the Most High they call,
    but he does not raise them up at all.^[a](A)

¹⁰ For forty years I loathed that generation
    and said, “They are a people whose hearts go astray,
    and they do not regard my ways.”^(A)

⁸ They feed on the sin of my people;
    they are greedy for their iniquity.

⁵ Let me go to the rich^[a]
    and speak to them;
surely they know the way of the Lord,
    the law of their God.”
But they all alike had broken the yoke;
    they had burst the bonds.^(A)
