¹² But days are coming,”
    declares the Lord,
“when I will send men who pour from pitchers,
    and they will pour her out;
they will empty her pitchers
    and smash her jars.

² The Lord will restore^(A) the splendor^(B) of Jacob
    like the splendor of Israel,
though destroyers have laid them waste
    and have ruined their vines.

³⁸ On all the roofs in Moab
    and in the public squares^(A)
there is nothing but mourning,
    for I have broken Moab
    like a jar^(B) that no one wants,”
declares the Lord.

¹⁴ It will break in pieces like pottery,^(A)
    shattered so mercilessly
that among its pieces not a fragment will be found
    for taking coals from a hearth
    or scooping water out of a cistern.”

⁹ You will break them with a rod of iron^[a];^(A)
    you will dash them to pieces^(B) like pottery.^(C)”

¹⁵ Moab will be destroyed and her towns invaded;
    her finest young men^(A) will go down in the slaughter,^(B)”
    declares the King,^(C) whose name is the Lord Almighty.^(D)

¹¹ “Moab has been at rest^(A) from youth,
    like wine left on its dregs,^(B)
not poured from one jar to another—
    she has not gone into exile.
So she tastes as she did,
    and her aroma is unchanged.

⁸ The destroyer^(A) will come against every town,
    and not a town will escape.
The valley will be ruined
    and the plateau^(B) destroyed,
    because the Lord has spoken.
