¹⁹ And the women said,^[a] “When we made offerings to the queen of heaven ^(A)and poured out drink offerings to her, was it ^(B)without our husbands' approval that we made cakes for her bearing her image and poured out drink offerings to her?”

¹⁸ The children gather wood, the fathers kindle fire, ^(A)and the women knead dough, to ^(B)make cakes for ^(C)the queen of heaven. And ^(D)they pour out drink offerings to other gods, ^(E)to provoke me to anger.

¹⁵ Then all the men who knew that ^(A)their wives had made offerings to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a great assembly, all the people who lived in ^(B)Pathros in the land of Egypt, answered Jeremiah:

^6 (A)And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for ^(B)the daughter of Ahab was his wife. And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.

Ahab's Repentance

²⁵ (^(A)There was none who sold himself to do what was evil in the sight of the Lord like Ahab, whom Jezebel his wife incited.

^3 (A)You shall not intermarry with them, giving your daughters to their sons or taking their daughters for your sons, ⁴ for they would turn away your sons from following me, to serve other gods. ^(B)Then the anger of the Lord would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you ^(C)quickly.

⁶ “If she marries a husband, while under her ^(A)vows or any thoughtless utterance of her lips by which she has bound herself, ⁷ and her husband hears of it and says nothing to her on the day that he hears, then her vows shall stand, and her pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand.

¹⁶ To the woman he said,

¹⁷ And to Adam he said,

¹¹ He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” ¹² The man said, ^(A)“The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.”
