¹⁴ so that none of the remnant of Judah who have gone into the land of Egypt to dwell there shall escape or survive, lest they return to the land of Judah, to which they ^(A)desire^[a] to return and dwell. For ^(B)none shall return except those who escape.’ ”

²⁷ Isaiah also cries out concerning Israel:

^26 (A)So I will cast you out, and your mother who bore you, into another country where you were not born; and there you shall die. ²⁷ But to the land to which they desire to return, there they shall not return.

²⁷ Behold, I will watch over them for adversity and not for good. And all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt ^(A)shall be consumed by the sword and by famine, until there is an end to them. ²⁸ Yet ^(B)a small number who escape the sword shall return from the land of Egypt to the land of Judah; and all the remnant of Judah, who have gone to the land of Egypt to dwell there, shall know whose words will stand, Mine or theirs.

¹⁷ So shall it be with all the men who set their faces to go to Egypt to dwell there. They shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence. And ^(A)none of them shall remain or escape from the disaster that I will bring upon them.’

^3 (A)how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, ^(B)which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was ^(C)confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

^5 (A)Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace. ⁶ And ^(B)if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. ^[a]But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.
