¹⁴ None of the remnant of Judah who have gone to live in Egypt will escape or survive to return to the land of Judah, to which they long to return and live; none will return except a few fugitives.”^(A)

²⁷ Isaiah cries out concerning Israel:

²⁶ I will hurl^(A) you and the mother^(B) who gave you birth into another country, where neither of you was born, and there you both will die. ²⁷ You will never come back to the land you long to return^(C) to.”

²⁷ For I am watching^(A) over them for harm,^(B) not for good; the Jews in Egypt will perish^(C) by sword and famine^(D) until they are all destroyed.^{(E) 28} Those who escape the sword^(F) and return to the land of Judah from Egypt will be very few.^(G) Then the whole remnant^(H) of Judah who came to live in Egypt will know whose word will stand^(I)—mine or theirs.^(J)

¹⁷ Indeed, all who are determined to go to Egypt to settle there will die by the sword, famine and plague;^(A) not one of them will survive or escape the disaster I will bring on them.’

The Branch of the Lord

² In that day^(A) the Branch of the Lord^(B) will be beautiful^(C) and glorious, and the fruit^(D) of the land will be the pride and glory^(E) of the survivors^(F) in Israel.

³ how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation?^(A) This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord,^(B) was confirmed to us by those who heard him.^(C)

⁵ So too, at the present time there is a remnant^(A) chosen by grace.^{(B) 6} And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works;^(C) if it were, grace would no longer be grace.
