³ The Lord has brought it about, and has done as he said. ^(A)Because you sinned against the Lord and did not obey his voice, this thing has come upon you.

⁵ But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are ^(A)storing up ^(B)wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.

^11 (A)All Israel has transgressed your law and turned aside, ^(B)refusing to obey your voice. ^(C)And the curse and oath ^(D)that are written in the Law of ^(E)Moses the servant of God have been poured out upon us, because ^(F)we have sinned against him. ¹² He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us and against ^(G)our rulers who ruled us,^[a] by ^(H)bringing upon us a great calamity. ^(I)For under the whole heaven there has not been done anything like what has been done against Jerusalem.

⁷ All who found them have devoured them, ^(A)and their enemies have said, ‘We are not guilty, for ^(B)they have sinned against the Lord, ^(C)their habitation of righteousness, the Lord, ^(D)the hope of their fathers.’

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever ^(A)the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, ^(B)so that every mouth may be stopped, and ^(C)the whole world may be held accountable to God.

^33 (A)Yet you have been righteous in all that has come upon us, for you have dealt faithfully ^(B)and we have acted wickedly.

^28 (A)But after they had rest they did evil again before you, and you abandoned them to the hand of their enemies, so that they had dominion over them. Yet when they turned and cried to you, you heard from heaven, ^(B)and many times you delivered them according to your mercies.

²⁵ Then people will say, ‘It is because they abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt,
