⁶ There at Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes and also killed all the nobles^(A) of Judah.

¹⁰ There at Riblah the king of Babylon killed the sons^(A) of Zedekiah before his eyes; he also killed all the officials of Judah.

¹⁹ The leaders of Judah and Jerusalem, the court officials,^(A) the priests and all the people of the land who walked between the pieces of the calf, ²⁰ I will deliver^(B) into the hands of their enemies who want to kill them.^(C) Their dead bodies will become food for the birds and the wild animals.^(D)

²¹ “I will deliver Zedekiah^(E) king of Judah and his officials^(F) into the hands of their enemies^(G) who want to kill them, to the army of the king of Babylon,^(H) which has withdrawn^(I) from you.

⁸ “‘But like the bad^(A) figs, which are so bad they cannot be eaten,’ says the Lord, ‘so will I deal with Zedekiah^(B) king of Judah, his officials^(C) and the survivors^(D) from Jerusalem, whether they remain in this land or live in Egypt.^{(E) 9} I will make them abhorrent^(F) and an offense to all the kingdoms of the earth, a reproach and a byword,^(G) a curse^[a](H) and an object of ridicule, wherever I banish^(I) them. ¹⁰ I will send the sword,^(J) famine^(K) and plague^(L) against them until they are destroyed from the land I gave to them and their ancestors.^(M)’”

⁷ After that, declares the Lord, I will give Zedekiah^(A) king of Judah, his officials and the people in this city who survive the plague,^(B) sword and famine, into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon^(C) and to their enemies^(D) who want to kill them.^(E) He will put them to the sword;^(F) he will show them no mercy or pity or compassion.’^(G)

⁷ They killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes. Then they put out his eyes, bound him with bronze shackles and took him to Babylon.^(A)

³⁴ The sights you see will drive you mad.^(A)

⁶ For how can I bear to see disaster fall on my people? How can I bear to see the destruction of my family?”^(A)
