²¹ But if you are determined not to surrender, this is what the Lord has shown me:

⁷ You shall speak my words to them, whether they hear or refuse to hear, for they are a rebellious house.^(A)

⁴ The descendants are impudent and stubborn. I am sending you to them, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God.’^{(A) 5} Whether they hear or refuse to hear (for they are a rebellious house), they shall know that there has been a prophet among them.^(B)

²⁵ See that you do not refuse the one who is speaking, for if they did not escape when they refused the one who warned them on earth, how much less will we escape if we reject the one who warns from heaven!^(A)

²⁶ Therefore I declare to you this day that I am not responsible for the blood of any of you,^{(A) 27} for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God.^(B)

⁶ When they opposed and reviled him, in protest he shook the dust from his clothes^[a] and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the gentiles.”^(A)

¹⁷ Mortal, I have made you a sentinel for the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me.^{(A) 18} When I say to the wicked, “You shall surely die,” and you give them no warning and do not speak to warn the wicked from their wicked way in order to save their lives, those wicked persons shall die for their iniquity, but their blood I will require at your hand.^{(B) 19} But if you warn the wicked and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their wicked way, they shall die for their iniquity, but you will have saved your life.^(C)

¹⁵ Only know for certain that if you put me to death, you will be bringing innocent blood upon yourselves and upon this city and its inhabitants, for in truth the Lord sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears.”^(A)
