¹² that Jeremiah went out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin to claim his property there among the people.

Jeremiah Called to Be a Priest

1 The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests who were ^(A)in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin,

²² Abstain from every form of evil.

^23 (A)When they persecute you in this city, flee to another. For assuredly, I say to you, you will not have ^(B)gone through the cities of Israel ^(C)before the Son of Man comes.

⁸ Then Hanamel my uncle’s son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the Lord, and said to me, ‘Please buy my field that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin; for the right of inheritance is yours, and the redemption yours; buy it for yourself.’ Then I knew that this was the word of the Lord. ⁹ So I bought the field from Hanamel, the son of my uncle who was in Anathoth, and ^(A)weighed out to him the money—seventeen shekels of silver.

¹¹ And I said, “Should such a man as I flee? And who is there such as I who would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in!”

⁶⁰ And from the tribe of Benjamin: Geba with its common-lands, ^[a]Alemeth with its common-lands, and Anathoth with its common-lands. All their cities among their families were thirteen.

⁹ And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

³ And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.

¹⁷ and from the tribe of Benjamin, ^(A)Gibeon with its common-land, ^(B)Geba with its common-land, ¹⁸ Anathoth with its common-land, and ^(C)Almon with its common-land: four cities.
