33 Moreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still ^(A)shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

² For then the king of Babylon’s army besieged Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up ^(A)in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah’s house.

²³ Are they ministers of Christ?—I speak as a fool—I am more: ^(A)in labors more abundant, ^(B)in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, ^(C)in deaths often.

³⁶ Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and ^(A)of chains and imprisonment.

^9 (A)for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, ^(B)even to the point of chains; ^(C)but the word of God is not chained.

²⁰ for which ^(A)I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

The Mystery Revealed

3 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles—

⁴ And now look, I free you this day from the chains that ^[a]were on your hand. ^(A)If it seems good to you to come with me to Babylon, come, and I will look after you. But if it seems wrong for you to come with me to Babylon, remain here. See, ^(B)all the land is before you; wherever it seems good and convenient for you to go, go there.”

²⁸ Now ^(A)Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison until the day that Jerusalem was taken. And he was there when Jerusalem was taken.
