³² Then Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to the secretary Baruch son of Neriah, who wrote on it at Jeremiah’s dictation all the words of the scroll that King Jehoiakim of Judah had burned in the fire, and many similar words were added to them.

⁴ Then Jeremiah called Baruch son of Neriah, and Baruch wrote on a scroll at Jeremiah’s dictation all the words that the Lord had spoken to him.^(A)

¹⁸ Baruch answered them, “He dictated all these words to me, and I wrote them with ink on the scroll.”

¹⁵ You shall speak to him and put the words in his mouth, and I will be with your mouth and with his mouth and will teach you what you shall do.^{(A) 16} He indeed shall speak for you to the people; he shall serve as a mouth for you, and you shall serve as God for him.

¹⁸ I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book;^(A)

²² I Tertius, the writer of this letter, greet you in the Lord.^[a]

The Fiery Furnace

¹⁹ Then Nebuchadnezzar was so filled with rage against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego that his face was distorted. He ordered the furnace heated up seven times more than was customary

²³ As Jehudi read three or four columns, he would cut them off with a penknife and throw them into the fire in the brazier, until the entire scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.

²⁸ I will continue hostile to you in fury; I in turn will punish you myself sevenfold for your sins.

²⁴ then I, too, will continue hostile to you: I myself will strike you sevenfold for your sins.^(A)
