³² not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when ^(A)I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, ^(B)though I was their husband, declares the Lord.

⁸ “When I passed by you again and saw you, behold, you were at the age for love, and ^(A)I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your nakedness; I made my vow to you ^(B)and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Lord God, ^(C)and you became mine.

^3 (A)Not with our fathers did the Lord make this covenant, but with us, who are all of us here alive today.

³¹ and in the wilderness, where you have seen how the Lord your God ^(A)carried you, as a man carries his son, all the way that you went until you came to this place.’

⁶ And ^(A)Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and half of the blood he threw against the altar. ⁷ Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people. And they said, ^(B)“All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.” ^8 (C)And Moses took the blood and threw it on the people and said, “Behold the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.”

⁵ Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be ^(A)my treasured possession among all peoples, for ^(B)all the earth is mine;

¹⁸ Therefore not even the first covenant was inaugurated ^(A)without blood. ¹⁹ For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took ^(B)the blood of calves and goats, ^(C)with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, ²⁰ saying, ^(D)“This is the blood of the covenant that God commanded for you.” ²¹ And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both ^(E)the tent and all the vessels used in worship. ²² Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and ^(F)without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

^29 (A)The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. ^(B)The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, ^(C)rejoices greatly at the bridegroom's voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete.

3 And the Lord said to me, ^(A)“Go again, love a woman who is loved by another man and is an adulteress, even as the Lord loves the children of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love cakes of raisins.”
