⁹ He had thirty sons. And he gave away thirty daughters in marriage, and brought in thirty daughters from elsewhere for his sons. He judged Israel seven years.

¹⁹ And Laban said, “It is better that I give her to you than that I should give her to another man. Stay with me.”

Jacob Sent to His Uncle Laban

28 Then Isaac called Jacob and ^(A)blessed him, and ^[a]charged him, and said to him: ^(B)“You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan. ^2 (C)Arise, go to ^(D)Padan Aram, to the house of ^(E)Bethuel your mother’s father; and take yourself a wife from there of the daughters of ^(F)Laban your mother’s brother.

^51 (A)Here is Rebekah before you; take her and go, and let her be your master’s son’s wife, as the Lord has spoken.”

³ and I will make you ^(A)swear^[a] by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that ^(B)you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell; ^4 (C)but you shall go ^(D)to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”

²¹ He dwelt in the Wilderness of Paran; and his mother ^(A)took a wife for him from the land of Egypt.

¹⁴ Therefore I desire that the younger widows marry, bear children, manage the house, give no opportunity to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

³⁶ But if any man thinks he is behaving improperly toward his ^[a]virgin, if she is past the flower of youth, and thus it must be, let him do what he wishes. He does not sin; let them marry. ³⁷ Nevertheless he who stands steadfast in his heart, having no necessity, but has power over his own will, and has so determined in his heart that he will keep his ^[b]virgin, does well. ^38 (A)So then he who gives ^[c]her in marriage does well, but he who does not give her in marriage does better.
