¹⁰ Then the prophet Hananiah took the yoke^(A) off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah and broke it,

² This is what the Lord said to me: “Make a yoke^(A) out of straps and crossbars and put it on your neck.

Israel Speaks Arrogantly Against God

¹³ “You have spoken arrogantly^(A) against me,” says the Lord.

“Yet you ask,^(B) ‘What have we said against you?’

²³ Whenever Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll,^(A) the king cut them off with a scribe’s knife and threw them into the firepot, until the entire scroll was burned in the fire.^{(B) 24} The king and all his attendants who heard all these words showed no fear,^(C) nor did they tear their clothes.^(D)

⁴ I will also bring back to this place Jehoiachin^[a](A) son of Jehoiakim king of Judah and all the other exiles from Judah who went to Babylon,’ declares the Lord, ‘for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.’”^(B)

² “This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘I will break the yoke^(A) of the king of Babylon.

²⁴ Then Zedekiah^(A) son of Kenaanah went up and slapped^(B) Micaiah in the face. “Which way did the spirit from^[a] the Lord go when he went from me to speak^(C) to you?” he asked.

²⁵ Micaiah replied, “You will find out on the day you go to hide^(D) in an inner room.”

¹¹ Now Zedekiah^(A) son of Kenaanah had made iron horns^(B) and he declared, “This is what the Lord says: ‘With these you will gore the Arameans until they are destroyed.’”
