^4 (A)You have neither listened nor inclined your ears to hear, although the Lord ^(B)persistently sent to you all his servants the prophets,

³ “For twenty-three years, ^(A)from the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, to this day, the word of the Lord has come to me, and I have spoken ^(B)persistently to you, ^(C)but you have not listened.

^5 (A)and to listen to the words of my servants the prophets whom I send to you ^(B)urgently, ^(C)though you have not listened,

²⁵ See that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For ^(A)if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven.

^51 (A)“You stiff-necked people, ^(B)uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. ^(C)As your fathers did, so do you. ^52 (D)Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who announced beforehand the coming of ^(E)the Righteous One, ^(F)whom you have now betrayed and murdered,

¹¹ But ^(A)they refused to pay attention ^(B)and turned a stubborn shoulder and stopped their ears that they might not hear.^{[a] 12 (C)}They made their hearts diamond-hard ^(D)lest they should hear the law and the words that the Lord of hosts had sent ^(E)by his Spirit through ^(F)the former prophets. ^(G)Therefore great anger came from the Lord of hosts.

^4 (A)Yet I persistently sent to you all my servants the prophets, saying, ‘Oh, do not do this abomination that I hate!’ ^5 (B)But they did not listen ^(C)or incline their ear, to turn from their evil and make no offerings to other gods.

^31 (A)And I will punish him and his offspring and his servants for their iniquity. I will bring upon them and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem and upon the people of Judah all the disaster that I have pronounced against them, but they would not hear.’”

¹⁴ The command that Jonadab the son of Rechab gave to his sons, to drink no wine, has been kept, and they drink none to this day, for they have obeyed their father's command. I have spoken to you ^(A)persistently, but you have not listened to me. ¹⁵ I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, sending them ^(B)persistently, saying, ^(C)‘Turn now every one of you from his evil way, and amend your deeds, and ^(D)do not go after other gods to serve them, and then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to you and your fathers.’ ^(E)But you did not incline your ear or listen to me.
