²³ Look, the storm of the Lord!
    Wrath has gone forth,
a whirling^[a] tempest;
    it will burst upon the head of the wicked.^(A)

³² Thus says the Lord of hosts:
See, disaster is spreading
    from nation to nation,
and a great tempest is stirring
    from the farthest parts of the earth!

As whirlwinds in the Negeb sweep on,
    it comes from the desert,
    from a terrible land.^(A)

¹⁴ Then the Lord will appear over them,
    and his arrow go forth like lightning;
the Lord God will sound the trumpet
    and march forth in the whirlwinds of the south.^(A)

His way is in whirlwind and storm,
    and the clouds are the dust of his feet.^(A)
4 He rebukes the sea and makes it dry,
    and he dries up all the rivers;
Bashan and Carmel wither,
    and the bloom of Lebanon fades.
⁵ The mountains quake before him,
    and the hills melt;
the earth heaves before him,
    the world and all who live in it.^(B)

⁶ Who can stand before his indignation?
    Who can endure the heat of his anger?
His wrath is poured out like fire,
    and by him the rocks are broken in pieces.^(C)
