^4 (A)Because the people have forsaken me and have profaned this place by making offerings in it to other gods whom neither they nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah have known; ^(B)and because they have filled this place with the blood of innocents,

^16 (A)Moreover, Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another, besides the sin ^(B)that he made Judah to sin so that they did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.

²⁰ “The Lord ^(A)will send on you curses, confusion, and ^(B)frustration in all that you undertake to do, ^(C)until you are destroyed and perish quickly on account of the evil of your deeds, because you have forsaken me.

^9 (A)Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, ^(B)swear falsely, ^(C)make offerings to Baal, ^(D)and go after other gods that you have not known,

^5 (A)we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly ^(B)and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules. ^6 (C)We have not listened to ^(D)your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to ^(E)our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. ⁷ To you, ^(F)O Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us open shame, as at this day, to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, ^(G)those who are near and ^(H)those who are far away, in ^(I)all the lands to which you have driven them, because of ^(J)the treachery that they have committed against you. ⁸ To us, O Lord, belongs open shame, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because ^(K)we have sinned against you. ^9 (L)To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him ^10 (M)and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God by walking in his laws, which he set before us by ^(N)his servants the prophets. ^11 (O)All Israel has transgressed your law and turned aside, ^(P)refusing to obey your voice. ^(Q)And the curse and oath ^(R)that are written in the Law of ^(S)Moses the servant of God have been poured out upon us, because ^(T)we have sinned against him. ¹² He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us and against ^(U)our rulers who ruled us,^[a] by ^(V)bringing upon us a great calamity. ^(W)For under the whole heaven there has not been done anything like what has been done against Jerusalem. ^13 (X)As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this calamity has come upon us; yet we have not entreated the favor of the Lord our God, ^(Y)turning from our iniquities and gaining insight by your truth. ^14 (Z)Therefore the Lord has kept ready the calamity and has brought it upon us, ^(AA)for the Lord our God is righteous in all the works that he has done, and ^(AB)we have not obeyed his voice. ¹⁵ And now, O Lord our God, who brought your people out of the land of Egypt ^(AC)with a mighty hand, and ^(AD)have made a name for yourself, as at this day, ^(AE)we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

^13 (A)For your gods have become as many as your cities, O Judah, and as many as the streets of Jerusalem are the altars you have set up to shame, ^(B)altars to make offerings to Baal.
