¹⁸ And first I will repay ^(A)double for their iniquity and their sin, because ^(B)they have defiled My land; they have filled My inheritance with the carcasses of their detestable and abominable idols.”

^6 (A)Render to her just as she rendered ^[a]to you, and repay her double according to her works; ^(B)in the cup which she has mixed, ^(C)mix double for her.

²¹ But as for those whose hearts follow the desire for their detestable things and their abominations, ^(A)I will recompense their deeds on their own heads,” says the Lord God.

³³ So you shall not pollute the land where you are; for blood ^(A)defiles the land, and no ^[a]atonement can be made for the land, for the blood that is shed on it, except ^(B)by the blood of him who shed it. ³⁴ Therefore ^(C)do not defile the land which you inhabit, in the midst of which I dwell; for ^(D)I the Lord dwell among the children of Israel.’ ”

The Wickedness of Jerusalem

⁷ And He said to me, “Son of man, this is ^(A)the place of My throne and ^(B)the place of the soles of My feet, ^(C)where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel forever. ^(D)No more shall the house of Israel defile My holy name, they nor their kings, by their ^[a]harlotry or with ^(E)the carcasses of their kings on their high places. ^8 (F)When they set their threshold by My threshold, and their doorpost by My doorpost, with a wall between them and Me, they defiled My holy name by the abominations which they committed; therefore I have consumed them in My anger. ⁹ Now let them put their harlotry and the carcasses of their kings far away from Me, and I will dwell in their midst forever.

¹⁸ And they will go there, and they will take away all its ^(A)detestable things and all its abominations from there.
