¹⁴ Then the Lord said to me, “The prophets are prophesying lies^(A) in my name. I have not sent^(B) them or appointed them or spoken to them. They are prophesying to you false visions,^(C) divinations,^(D) idolatries^[a] and the delusions of their own minds.

⁶ Their visions are false^(A) and their divinations a lie. Even though the Lord has not sent^(B) them, they say, “The Lord declares,” and expect him to fulfill their words.^{(C) 7} Have you not seen false visions^(D) and uttered lying divinations when you say, “The Lord declares,” though I have not spoken?

²⁴ For there will be no more false visions or flattering divinations^(A) among the people of Israel.

³¹ “Send this message to all the exiles: ‘This is what the Lord says about Shemaiah^(A) the Nehelamite: Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, even though I did not send^(B) him, and has persuaded you to trust in lies,

⁹ So do not listen to your prophets,^(A) your diviners,^(B) your interpreters of dreams,^(C) your mediums^(D) or your sorcerers^(E) who tell you, ‘You will not serve^(F) the king of Babylon.’ ¹⁰ They prophesy lies^(G) to you that will only serve to remove^(H) you far from your lands; I will banish you and you will perish.
