¹¹ The Lord said to me: Do not pray for the welfare of this people.^(A)

The People’s Disobedience

¹⁶ As for you, do not pray for this people, do not raise a cry or prayer on their behalf, and do not intercede with me, for I will not hear you.^(A)

¹⁴ As for you, do not pray for this people or lift up a cry or prayer on their behalf, for I will not listen when they call to me in the time of their trouble.^(A)

³² But now, if you will only forgive their sin—but if not, please blot me out of the book that you have written.”^{(A) 33} But the Lord said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out of my book.^{(B) 34} But now go, lead the people to the place about which I have spoken to you; see, my angel shall go in front of you. Nevertheless, when the day for punishment comes, I will punish them for their sin.”^(C)

Punishment Is Inevitable

15 Then the Lord said to me: Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my heart would not turn toward this people. Send them out of my sight, and let them go!^(A)

¹⁰ Now let me alone so that my wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them, and of you I will make a great nation.”^(A)
