¹⁴ I will smash them one against the other, parents and children alike, declares the Lord. I will allow no pity^(A) or mercy or compassion^(B) to keep me from destroying^(C) them.’”

²⁰ The Lord will never be willing to forgive^(A) them; his wrath and zeal^(B) will burn^(C) against them. All the curses written in this book will fall on them, and the Lord will blot^(D) out their names from under heaven.

⁷ After that, declares the Lord, I will give Zedekiah^(A) king of Judah, his officials and the people in this city who survive the plague,^(B) sword and famine, into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon^(C) and to their enemies^(D) who want to kill them.^(E) He will put them to the sword;^(F) he will show them no mercy or pity or compassion.’^(G)

⁹ I will make them eat^(A) the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another’s flesh because their enemies^(B) will press the siege so hard against them to destroy them.’

¹⁰ “Then break the jar^(C) while those who go with you are watching, ¹¹ and say to them, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: I will smash^(D) this nation and this city just as this potter’s jar is smashed and cannot be repaired. They will bury^(E) the dead in Topheth until there is no more room.

²¹ Therefore this is what the Lord says:

¹² “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.^(A)
