² “Hear the words of this covenant, and speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

⁶ Then the Lord said to me, “Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying: ‘Hear the words of this covenant ^(A)and do them.

⁵ Now ^(A)therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and ^(B)keep My covenant, then ^(C)you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is ^(D)Mine.

¹³ “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: ‘I made a ^(A)covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying, ¹⁴ “At the end of ^(B)seven years let every man set free his Hebrew brother, who ^[a]has been sold to him; and when he has served you six years, you shall let him go free from you.” But your fathers did not obey Me nor incline their ear. ¹⁵ Then you ^[b]recently turned and did what was right in My sight—every man proclaiming liberty to his neighbor; and you ^(C)made a covenant before Me ^(D)in the house which is called by My name. ¹⁶ Then you turned around and ^(E)profaned My name, and every one of you brought back his male and female slaves, whom you had set at liberty, at their pleasure, and brought them back into subjection, to be your male and female slaves.’

³¹ Then the king ^(A)stood in ^(B)his place and made a ^(C)covenant before the Lord, to follow the Lord, and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book.

¹⁰ “Now it is in my heart to make ^(A)a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, that His fierce wrath may turn away from us.

¹⁶ Then Jehoiada made a ^(A)covenant between himself, the people, and the king, that they should be the Lord’s people.

² The king went up to the house of the Lord with all the men of Judah, and with him all the inhabitants of Jerusalem—the priests and the prophets and all the people, both small and great. And he ^(A)read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant ^(B)which had been found in the house of the Lord.

³ Then the king ^(C)stood by a pillar and made a ^(D)covenant before the Lord, to follow the Lord and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people took a stand for the covenant.

^17 (A)Then Jehoiada ^(B)made a covenant between the Lord, the king, and the people, that they should be the Lord’s people, and also ^(C)between the king and the people.
