⁶ Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, ^(A)I do not know how to speak, ^(B)for I am only a youth.”

¹² But Moses said to the Lord, “Behold, the people of Israel have ^(A)not listened to me. How then shall Pharaoh listen to me, for ^(B)I am of uncircumcised lips?”

¹⁰ But Moses said to the Lord, “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but ^(A)I am slow of speech and of tongue.” ¹¹ Then the Lord said to him, “Who has made man's mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? ¹² Now therefore go, and ^(B)I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.” ¹³ But he said, “Oh, my Lord, please send someone else.” ¹⁴ Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses and he said, “Is there not Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well. Behold, ^(C)he is coming out to meet you, and when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart. ^15 (D)You shall speak to him and ^(E)put the words in his mouth, and ^(F)I will be with your mouth and with his mouth and will teach you both what to do. ^16 (G)He shall speak for you to the people, and he shall be your mouth, and ^(H)you shall be as God to him.

¹⁷ ‘Ah, Lord God! It is ^(A)you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by ^(B)your outstretched arm! ^(C)Nothing is too hard for you.

⁷ And now, O Lord my God, ^(A)you have made your servant king in place of David my father, ^(B)although I am but a little child. I do not know ^(C)how to go out or come in. ^8 (D)And your servant is in the midst of your people whom you have chosen, a great people, ^(E)too many to be numbered or counted for multitude. ^9 (F)Give your servant therefore an understanding mind ^(G)to govern your people, that I may ^(H)discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?”

³⁰ But Moses said to the Lord, “Behold, ^(A)I am of uncircumcised lips. How will Pharaoh listen to me?”

Lying Prophets

¹³ Then I said: “Ah, Lord God, behold, the prophets ^(A)say to them, ‘You shall not see the sword, nor shall you have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place.’”

Moses Given Powerful Signs

4 Then Moses answered, “But behold, they will not believe me or listen to my voice, for they will say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you.’”

¹⁰ Then I said, “Ah, Lord God, ^(A)surely you have utterly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, ‘It shall be well with you,’ whereas the sword has reached their very life.”
