^41 (A)“Behold, a people comes from the north;
    a mighty nation and many kings
    are stirring from the farthest parts of the earth.

^27 (A)“Set up a standard on the earth;
    ^(B)blow the trumpet among the nations;
^(C)prepare ^(D)the nations for war against her;
    summon against her ^(E)the kingdoms,
    ^(F)Ararat, Minni, and ^(G)Ashkenaz;
appoint a ^(H)marshal against her;
    ^(I)bring up horses like bristling locusts.
^28 (J)Prepare ^(K)the nations for war against her,
    the kings of ^(L)the Medes, ^(M)with their governors ^(N)and deputies,
    and every ^(O)land under their dominion.

²² Thus says the Lord:
^(A)“Behold, a people is coming ^(B)from the north country,
    a great nation is stirring from ^(C)the farthest parts of the earth.
²³ They lay hold on bow and javelin;
    they are ^(D)cruel and have no mercy;
    ^(E)the sound of them is like the roaring sea;
they ride on horses,
    set in array as a man for battle,
    against you, O daughter of Zion!”

² On a bare hill ^(A)raise a signal;
    cry aloud to them;
wave the hand for ^(B)them to enter
    the gates of the nobles.
³ I myself have commanded my consecrated ones,
    and have summoned my mighty men to execute my anger,
    my proudly exulting ones.^[a]

⁴ The sound ^(C)of a tumult is on the mountains
    as of a great multitude!
The sound of an uproar of kingdoms,
    of nations gathering together!
^(D)The Lord of hosts is mustering
    a host for battle.
^5 (E)They come from a distant land,
    from the end of the heavens,
the Lord and the weapons of his indignation,
    to destroy the whole land.^[b]
