¹³ “Among the prophets of Samaria
    I saw this repulsive thing:
They prophesied by Baal^(A)
    and led my people Israel astray.^(B)

⁸ The priests did not ask,
    ‘Where is the Lord?’
Those who deal with the law did not know me;^(A)
    the leaders^(B) rebelled against me.
The prophets prophesied by Baal,^(C)
    following worthless idols.^(D)

¹⁶ Those who guide^(A) this people mislead them,
    and those who are guided are led astray.^(B)

⁷ The days of punishment^(A) are coming,
    the days of reckoning^(B) are at hand.
    Let Israel know this.
Because your sins^(C) are so many
    and your hostility so great,
the prophet is considered a fool,^(D)
    the inspired person a maniac.^(E)
8 The prophet, along with my God,
    is the watchman over Ephraim,^[a]
yet snares^(F) await him on all his paths,
    and hostility in the house of his God.^(G)
