¹⁵ But my people have forgotten me;
    they burn offerings to a delusion;
they have stumbled^[a] in their ways,
    in the ancient roads,
and have gone into bypaths,
    not the highway,^(A)

¹⁶ Thus says the Lord:
Stand at the crossroads and look,
    and ask for the ancient paths,
where the good way lies; and walk in it,
    and find rest for your souls.
But they said, “We will not walk in it.”^(A)

² The more I^[a] called them,
    the more they went from me;^[b]
they kept sacrificing to the Baals
    and offering incense to idols.^(A)

³² Can a young woman forget her ornaments
    or a bride her attire?
Yet my people have forgotten me,
    days without number.^(A)
