Jésus ressuscite Lazare de Béthanie
11 Il y avait un homme malade, Lazare, de Béthanie, village de Marie et de Marthe, sa sœur. 2 – C’était cette Marie qui oignit de parfum le Seigneur et qui lui essuya les pieds avec ses cheveux, et c’était son frère Lazare qui était malade. – 3 Les sœurs envoyèrent dire à Jésus: Seigneur, voici, celui que tu aimes est malade. 4 Après avoir entendu cela, Jésus dit: Cette maladie n’est point à la mort; mais elle est pour la gloire de Dieu, afin que le Fils de Dieu soit glorifié par elle.
5 Or, Jésus aimait Marthe, et sa sœur, et Lazare. 6 Lorsqu’il eut appris que Lazare était malade, il resta deux jours encore dans le lieu où il était[a], 7 et il dit ensuite aux disciples: Retournons en Judée. 8 Les disciples lui dirent: Rabbi, les Juifs tout récemment cherchaient à te lapider, et tu retournes en Judée! 9 Jésus répondit: N’y a-t-il pas douze heures au jour? Si quelqu’un marche pendant le jour, il ne bronche point, parce qu’il voit la lumière de ce monde; 10 mais, si quelqu’un marche pendant la nuit, il bronche, parce que la lumière n’est pas en lui. 11 Après ces paroles, il leur dit: Lazare, notre ami, dort; mais je vais le réveiller. 12 Les disciples lui dirent: Seigneur, s’il dort, il sera guéri. 13 Jésus avait parlé de sa mort, mais ils crurent qu’il parlait de l’assoupissement du sommeil. 14 Alors Jésus leur dit ouvertement: Lazare est mort. 15 Et, à cause de vous, afin que vous croyiez, je me réjouis de ce que je n’étais pas là. Mais allons vers lui. 16 Sur quoi Thomas, appelé Didyme, dit aux autres disciples: Allons aussi, afin de mourir avec lui.
17 Jésus, étant arrivé, trouva que Lazare était déjà depuis quatre jours dans le sépulcre. 18 Et, comme Béthanie était près de Jérusalem, à quinze stades environ, 19 beaucoup de Juifs étaient venus vers Marthe et Marie, pour les consoler de la mort de leur frère.
20 Lorsque Marthe apprit que Jésus arrivait, elle alla au-devant de lui, tandis que Marie se tenait assise à la maison. 21 Marthe dit à Jésus: Seigneur, si tu avais été ici, mon frère ne serait pas mort. 22 Mais, maintenant même, je sais que tout ce que tu demanderas à Dieu, Dieu te l’accordera. 23 Jésus lui dit: Ton frère ressuscitera. 24 Je sais, lui répondit Marthe, qu’il ressuscitera à la résurrection, au dernier jour. 25 Jésus lui dit: Je suis la résurrection et la vie. Celui qui croit en moi vivra, même s’il meurt; 26 et quiconque vit et croit en moi ne mourra jamais. Crois-tu cela? 27 Elle lui dit: Oui, Seigneur, je crois que tu es le Christ, le Fils de Dieu, qui devait venir dans le monde.
28 Ayant ainsi parlé, elle s’en alla. Puis elle appela secrètement Marie, sa sœur, et lui dit: Le maître est ici, et il te demande. 29 Dès que Marie eut entendu, elle se leva promptement, et alla vers lui. 30 Car Jésus n’était pas encore entré dans le village, mais il était dans le lieu où Marthe l’avait rencontré. 31 Les Juifs qui étaient avec Marie dans la maison et qui la consolaient, l’ayant vue se lever promptement et sortir, la suivirent, disant: Elle va au sépulcre, pour y pleurer.
32 Lorsque Marie fut arrivée là où était Jésus, et qu’elle le vit, elle tomba à ses pieds, et lui dit: Seigneur, si tu avais été ici, mon frère ne serait pas mort. 33 Jésus, la voyant pleurer, elle et les Juifs qui étaient venus avec elle, frémit en son esprit, et fut tout ému. 34 Et il dit: Où l’avez-vous mis? Seigneur, lui répondirent-ils, viens et vois.
35 Jésus pleura.
36 Sur quoi les Juifs dirent: Voyez comme il l’aimait. 37 Et quelques-uns d’entre eux dirent: Lui qui a ouvert les yeux de l’aveugle, ne pouvait-il pas faire aussi que cet homme ne meure point?
38 Jésus frémissant de nouveau en lui-même, se rendit au sépulcre. C’était une grotte, et une pierre était placée devant. 39 Jésus dit: Otez la pierre. Marthe, la sœur du mort, lui dit: Seigneur, il sent déjà, car il y a quatre jours qu’il est là. 40 Jésus lui dit: Ne t’ai-je pas dit que, si tu crois, tu verras la gloire de Dieu? 41 Ils ôtèrent donc la pierre. Et Jésus leva les yeux en haut, et dit: Père, je te rends grâces de ce que tu m’as exaucé. 42 Pour moi, je sais que tu m’exauces toujours; mais j’ai parlé à cause de la foule qui m’entoure, afin qu’ils croient que c’est toi qui m’as envoyé. 43 Ayant dit cela, il cria d’une voix forte: Lazare, sors! 44 Et le mort sortit, les pieds et les mains liés de bandes, et le visage enveloppé d’un linge. Jésus leur dit: Déliez-le, et laissez-le aller.
45 Plusieurs des Juifs qui étaient venus vers Marie, et qui virent ce que fit Jésus, crurent en lui. 46 Mais quelques-uns d’entre eux allèrent trouver les pharisiens, et leur dirent ce que Jésus avait fait.
Le complot contre Jésus
47 Alors les principaux sacrificateurs et les pharisiens assemblèrent le sanhédrin, et dirent: Que ferons-nous? Car cet homme fait beaucoup de miracles. 48 Si nous le laissons faire, tous croiront en lui, et les Romains viendront détruire et notre ville[b] et notre nation. 49 L’un d’eux, Caïphe, qui était souverain sacrificateur cette année-là, leur dit: Vous n’y comprenez rien; 50 vous ne réfléchissez pas qu’il est dans votre intérêt qu’un seul homme meure pour le peuple, et que la nation entière ne périsse pas. 51 Or, il ne dit pas cela de lui-même; mais étant souverain sacrificateur cette année-là, il prophétisa que Jésus devait mourir pour la nation. 52 Et ce n’était pas pour la nation seulement; c’était aussi afin de réunir en un seul corps les enfants de Dieu dispersés.
53 Dès ce jour, ils résolurent de le faire mourir. 54 C’est pourquoi Jésus ne se montra plus ouvertement parmi les Juifs; mais il se retira dans la contrée voisine du désert, dans une ville appelée Ephraïm; et là il demeurait avec ses disciples.
55 La Pâque des Juifs était proche. Et beaucoup de gens du pays montèrent à Jérusalem avant la Pâque, pour se purifier. 56 Ils cherchaient Jésus, et ils se disaient les uns aux autres dans le temple: Que vous en semble? Ne viendra-t-il pas à la fête? 57 Or, les principaux sacrificateurs et les pharisiens avaient donné l’ordre que, si quelqu’un savait où il était, il le déclare, afin qu’on se saisisse de lui.

The Death of Lazarus
11 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of (A)Mary and her sister Martha. 2 (B)It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. 3 Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.”
4 When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”
5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So, when He heard that he was sick, (C)He stayed two more days in the place where He was. 7 Then after this He said to the disciples, “Let us go to Judea again.”
8 The disciples said to Him, “Rabbi, lately the Jews sought to (D)stone You, and are You going there again?”
9 Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? (E)If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the (F)light of this world. 10 But (G)if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.” 11 These things He said, and after that He said to them, “Our friend Lazarus (H)sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up.”
12 Then His disciples said, “Lord, if he sleeps he will get well.” 13 However, Jesus spoke of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about taking rest in sleep.
14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead. 15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless let us go to him.”
16 Then (I)Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with Him.”
I Am the Resurrection and the Life
17 So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days. 18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about [a]two miles away. 19 And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house. 21 Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that (J)whatever You ask of God, God will give You.”
23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”
24 Martha said to Him, (K)“I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”
25 Jesus said to her, “I am (L)the resurrection and the life. (M)He who believes in Me, though he may (N)die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
27 She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, (O)I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”
Jesus and Death, the Last Enemy
28 And when she had said these things, she went her way and secretly called Mary her sister, saying, “The Teacher has come and is calling for you.” 29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly and came to Him. 30 Now Jesus had not yet come into the town, but [b]was in the place where Martha met Him. 31 (P)Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and comforting her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, [c]saying, “She is going to the tomb to weep there.”
32 Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him, she (Q)fell down at His feet, saying to Him, (R)“Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”
33 Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled. 34 And He said, “Where have you laid him?”
They said to Him, “Lord, come and see.”
35 (S)Jesus wept. 36 Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him!”
37 And some of them said, “Could not this Man, (T)who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?”
Lazarus Raised from the Dead
38 Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a (U)stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.”
Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”
40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would (V)see the glory of God?” 41 Then they took away the stone [d]from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me, but (W)because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” 43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” 44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with (X)graveclothes, and (Y)his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”
The Plot to Kill Jesus(Z)
45 Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, (AA)and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him. 46 But some of them went away to the Pharisees and (AB)told them the things Jesus did. 47 (AC)Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, (AD)“What shall we do? For this Man works many signs. 48 If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation.”
49 And one of them, (AE)Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all, 50 (AF)nor do you consider that it is expedient for [e]us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish.” 51 Now this he did not say on his own authority; but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, 52 and (AG)not for that nation only, but (AH)also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad.
53 Then, from that day on, they plotted to (AI)put Him to death. 54 (AJ)Therefore Jesus no longer walked openly among the Jews, but went from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called (AK)Ephraim, and there remained with His disciples.
55 (AL)And the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went from the country up to Jerusalem before the Passover, to (AM)purify themselves. 56 (AN)Then they sought Jesus, and spoke among themselves as they stood in the temple, “What do you think—that He will not come to the feast?” 57 Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a command, that if anyone knew where He was, he should report it, that they might (AO)seize Him.

Смерть Лазаря

Ісус у Віфанії
17 Прийшовши до Віфанії, Ісус довідався, що Лазар уже чотири дні лежав у могилі. 18-19 Віфанія розташована кілометрів за три[b] від Єрусалиму, й багато юдеїв прийшло до Марти й Марії, щоб розділити з ними печаль з приводу смерті брата та втішити їх.
20 Почувши, що прийшов Ісус, Марта пішла Його зустрічати, а Марія в цей час залишалася вдома. 21 І сказала Марта Ісусові: «Господи, якби Ти був тут, то мій брат не помер би. 22 Я знаю, що навіть зараз, хоч би чого б Ти попросив у Бога, Він дасть Тобі». 23 І відповів їй Ісус: «Твій брат воскресне». 24 Марта тоді каже: «Я знаю, що він повстане у воскресіння останнього дня».

Змова проти Ісуса

45 Багато юдеїв, які прийшли до Марії, побачивши, що Ісус здійснив, повірили в Нього. 46 Та деякі пішли до фарисеїв і розповіли їм про все, що зробив Ісус. 47 Тоді первосвященики й фарисеї, зібравши Синедріон сказали: «Що нам робити? Цей Чоловік творить багато чудес! 48 Якщо ми дозволимо Йому діяти так і далі, то всі повірять у Нього, і прийдуть римляни, зруйнують наш храм і знищать народ».
49 Але один із них, на ім’я Каяфа, котрий у той рік був первосвящеником, мовив: «Ви нічого не знаєте, 50 і не розумієте, що для вас буде краще, якщо один Чоловік загине за людей, ніж якщо весь народ буде знищено». 51-52 І сказав це він не від себе. Оскільки Каяфа був первосвящеником того року, він пророкував, що Ісус помре за людей, і не лише заради юдейського народу, а щоб об’єднати всіх дітей Божих, розкиданих по світу.
53 І з того самого дня юдейські лідери стали шукати зручну нагоду, щоб убити Ісуса. 54 Тоді Він перестав відкрито ходити серед юдеїв, а подався звідти до міста Єфраїма, розташованого неподалік від пустелі, і залишався там зі Своїми учнями.
55 Надходило свято юдейської Пасхи, і багато людей з усіх країв подалося до Єрусалиму, щоб виконати обряд очищення перед Пасхою. 56 Вони шукали Ісуса і питали один одного, стоячи в храмі: «Як ви вважаєте, чи прийде Він на свято?» 57 Та головні священики і фарисеї віддали наказ: якщо хтось довідається, де перебуває Ісус, то повинен негайно повідомити про це, щоб Його могли схопити.

Ang Pagkamatay ni Lazaro
11 1-2 May usa ka tawo nga ginganlag Lazaro. Siya ug ang iyang mga igsoon nga si Maria ug si Marta nagpuyo sa Betania. Kini si Maria mao kadtong babaye nga mibubo ug pahumot sa mga tiil sa Ginoo ug iyang gipahiran sa iyang buhok. Dali, adtoon nato siya.” 16 Busa si Tomas nga gitawag nga Kaluha miingon sa iyang mga kauban, “Mokuyog na lang kita bisan kon patyon kita uban kaniya.”
Si Jesus mao ang Nagahatag ug Kinabuhi

28 Human mosulti si Marta niini, mibalik siya sa ilang balay ug gitawag niya ang iyang igsoon nga si Maria ug gihunghongan, “Ania na ang Magtutudlo ug gipatawag ka niya.” 29 Pagkadungog niadto ni Maria, mitindog siya ug midali paggawas ug miadto kang Jesus. 30 (Wala pa makasulod si Jesus sa lungsod sa Betania. Didto pa lang siya sa dapit diin siya gitagbo ni Marta.) 31 Pagkakita sa mga Judio nga nakigduyog sa kasub-anan ni Maria nga mitindog siya ug midali paggawas, gisunod nila siya, kay gipakaingon nilag moadto siya sa gilubngan aron mohilak didto.
32 Pag-abot ni Maria didto kang Jesus, miluhod siya ug miingon, “Ginoo, kon dinhi ka pa lang, wala unta mamatay ang akong igsoon.” 33 Pagkakita niya nga naghilak si Maria ug ingon man ang mga kauban niini nga mga Judio, natandog gayod ang iyang kasingkasing. 34 Nangutana dayon siya kanila, “Asa ninyo siya gilubong?” Mitubag sila, “Dali Ginoo, itudlo namo kanimo.” 35 Mihilak si Jesus. 36 Busa miingon ang mga Judio, “Nakita ninyo kon unsa kadako ang iyang paghigugma kang Lazaro!” 37 Apan ang uban miingon, “Dili ba giayo man niya ang mga mata sa buta? Nan, nganong wala man niya mapugngi ang kamatayon ni Lazaro?”
Gibanhaw ni Jesus si Lazaro
38 Natandog pag-usab ang kasingkasing ni Jesus. Ug miadto dayon sila didto sa gilubngan kang Lazaro. Usa kini ka langub nga gitakloban ug usa ka bato. 39 Pag-abot nila didto, miingon si Jesus, “Kuhaa ninyo ang bato.” Apan miingon si Marta nga igsoon sa namatay, “Ginoo, baho na siya karon, kay upat na ka adlaw nga siya gilubong!” 40 Miingon si Jesus kaniya, “Dili ba nga miingon man ako kanimo nga kon motuo ka, makita mo ang gahom sa Dios?” 41 Busa gikuha nila ang bato. Mihangad si Jesus sa langit ug miingon, “Amahan nagapasalamat ako kanimo tungod kay gipaminawan mo ako. 42 Nasayod ako nga kanunay ka nga nagapaminaw kanako, apan gisulti ko kini alang sa mga tawo nga ania karon nagaalirong kanako, aron motuo sila nga ikaw mao ang nagpadala kanako dinhi sa kalibotan.” 43 Human niyag sulti niini, misinggit siya, “Lazaro, gawas ngari!” 44 Ug migawas ang namatay nga si Lazaro nga ang iyang kamot ug tiil naputos pa sa mga panapton, ug ang iyang nawong naputos usab sa panyo. Miingon si Jesus kanila, “Badbari ninyo siya ug palakwa.”
Nagplano ang mga Kadagkoan sa mga Judio nga Patyon si Jesus
(Mat. 26:1-5; Mar. 14:1-2; Luc. 22:1-2)
45 Daghan sa mga Judio nga mibisita sa ilang Maria ang nakakita sa gibuhat ni Jesus ug mituo kaniya. 46 Apan ang uban kanila miadto sa mga Pariseo ug misugilon sa gibuhat ni Jesus. 47 Busa gitawag sa mga Pariseo ug sa mga kadagkoan sa mga pari ang tanan nga miyembro sa Korte sa mga Judio. Ug sa dihang nagtigom na sila, nagaingon sila, “Unsa man ang atong buhaton? Daghang mga milagro ang gibuhat niini nga tawo. 48 Kon pasagdan lang nato siya, ang tanan motuo na kaniya nga siya mao ang gipadala sa Dios nga mahimong hari sa Israel. Ug kon mahitabo kini, sulongon kita sa mga sundalo sa Roma ug gub-on nila ang atong templo ug ang atong tibuok nasod!” 49 Apan ang usa sa mga kauban nila nga si Caifas, nga pangulong pari niadtong tuiga, miingon, “Mga wala gayod kamoy alamag! 50 Wala ba kamo makahuna-huna nga mas maayo pa nga usa lang ka tawo ang mamatay alang sa atong nasod kaysa ang tibuok nasod ang mawala?” 51 Kining iyang gisulti dili iyang kaugalingon nga panghuna-huna, kondili ingon nga pangulong pari niadtong tuiga, natagna niya nga kinahanglan nga mamatay si Jesus alang sa mga Judio. 52 Ug dili lang alang kanila, kondili alang usab sa tanan nga anak sa Dios nga nagkatibulaag sa ubang lugar, aron matigom ug mahiusa silang tanan. 53 Sukad niadtong adlawa, nagplano na ang kadagkoan sa mga Judio sa pagpatay kang Jesus. 54 Busa wala na magpakita si Jesus didto sa mga lungsod sa mga Judio, kondili miadto siya sa lugar nga duol sa kamingawan, sa usa ka lungsod nga gitawag Efraim. Mipuyo siya didto uban sa iyang mga tinun-an.
55 Karon, hapit na ang pista sa mga Judio nga gitawag nga Pista sa Paglabay sa Anghel. Busa daghang mga tawo ang miadto sa Jerusalem aron nga sa dili pa moabot ang pista makapanghinlo na sila sa ilang kaugalingon sumala sa nabatasan sa ilang relihiyon. 56 Gipangita nila si Jesus didto sa templo apan wala nila makita. Busa nagpangutan-anay sila, “Sa inyong huna-huna, moanhi kaha siya dinhi sa pista?” 57 Niadto diay nga higayon nagsugo nang daan ang mga kadagkoan sa mga pari ug ang mga Pariseo nga si bisan kinsa nga masayod kon asa si Jesus kinahanglan mosulti kanila aron madakop nila siya.
