6 Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit^(A) should restore^(B) that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.

Dealing With Sin in the Church

¹⁵ “If your brother or sister^[a] sins,^[b] go and point out their fault,^(A) just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.

²⁰ remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save^(A) them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.^(B)

²² Be merciful to those who doubt; ²³ save others by snatching them from the fire;^(A) to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.^[a](B)

³² But I have prayed for you,^(A) Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”^(B)

¹⁶ I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up^(A) the injured and strengthen the weak,^(B) but the sleek and the strong I will destroy.^(C) I will shepherd the flock with justice.^(D)

¹⁷ Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard^(A) so that you may not be carried away by the error^(B) of the lawless^(C) and fall from your secure position.^(D)
