²⁰ But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is ^[a]dead?

¹⁷ Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

²⁶ For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

²¹ because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but ^(A)became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

²⁶ If anyone ^[a]among you thinks he is religious, and ^(A)does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.

The Elders’ Task

¹⁰ For there are many insubordinate, both idle ^(A)talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,

⁶ from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to ^(A)idle talk,

⁸ Beware lest anyone ^[a]cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to ^(A)the tradition of men, according to the ^(B)basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

³ For ^(A)if anyone thinks himself to be something, when ^(B)he is nothing, he deceives himself.
