10 Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets(A) who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 As you know, we count as blessed(B) those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance(C) and have seen what the Lord finally brought about.(D) The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.(E)
12 Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned.(F)

10 (A)My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and (B)patience. 11 Indeed (C)we count them blessed who (D)endure. You have heard of (E)the perseverance of Job and seen (F)the end intended by the Lord—that (G)the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
12 But above all, my brethren, (H)do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No,” lest you fall into [a]judgment.
