Controlling the Tongue

3 Not many should become teachers, my brothers,^[a] because you know that we will receive a stricter judgment.^{(A) 2} For we all stumble in many ways.^(B) If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is mature, able also to control the whole body.^(C)

¹⁰ Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others,^(A) as good stewards of the varied grace of God. ¹¹ If anyone speaks, let it be as one who speaks God’s words; if anyone serves, let it be from the strength God provides,^(B) so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

⁶ According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts:^(A) If prophecy,^(B) use it according to the proportion of one’s^[a] faith; ⁷ if service,^(C) use it in service; if teaching,^(D) in teaching; ⁸ if exhorting,^(E) in exhortation; giving, with generosity;^(F) leading,^(G) with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness.^(H)
