If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God,(A) who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.(B) But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt,(C) because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded(D) and unstable(E) in all they do.

14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders(A) of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil(B) in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith(C) will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins(D) to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.(E) The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.(F)

17 Elijah was a human being, even as we are.(G) He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.(H) 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.(I)

19 “Give me your son,” Elijah replied. He took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his bed. 20 Then he cried(A) out to the Lord, “Lord my God, have you brought tragedy even on this widow I am staying with, by causing her son to die?” 21 Then he stretched(B) himself out on the boy three times and cried out to the Lord, “Lord my God, let this boy’s life return to him!”

22 The Lord heard Elijah’s cry, and the boy’s life returned to him, and he lived.
