^2 (A)Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, when you encounter ^(B)various ^[a]trials, ³ knowing that ^(C)the testing of your ^(D)faith produces ^[b](E)endurance. ⁴ And let ^[c](F)endurance have its perfect ^[d]result, so that you may be ^[e](G)perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

⁵ But if any of you ^(H)lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and ^[f]without reproach, and ^(I)it will be given to him. ⁶ But he must ^(J)ask in faith ^(K)without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, ^(L)driven and tossed by the wind. ⁷ For that person ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, ⁸ being a ^(M)[g]double-minded man, ^(N)unstable in all his ways.

²¹ I find then ^(A)the ^[a]principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. ²² For I joyfully agree with the law of God ^[b]in ^(B)the inner person, ²³ but I see ^(C)a different law in ^[c]the parts of my body waging war against the ^(D)law of my mind, and making me a prisoner ^[d]of ^(E)the law of sin, the law which is in ^[e]my body’s parts. ²⁴ Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from ^[f](F)the body of this ^(G)death? ^25 (H)Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh ^(I)the law of sin.

³ I do not speak to condemn you, for I have said ^(A)before that you are ^(B)in our hearts, to die together and to live together. ⁴ My ^(C)confidence ^[a]in you is great; my ^(D)boasting in your behalf is great. I am filled with ^(E)comfort; I am overflowing with ^(F)joy in all our affliction.

⁵ For even when we came into ^(G)Macedonia our flesh had no rest, but we were ^(H)afflicted on every side: ^(I)conflicts on the outside, fears inside.
