Testing of Your Faith

^2 (A)Count it all joy, my brothers,^[a] when you meet trials ^(B)of various kinds, ³ for you know that ^(C)the testing of your faith ^(D)produces steadfastness. ⁴ And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be ^(E)perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

¹⁰ And ^(A)after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, ^(B)who has called you to his ^(C)eternal glory in Christ, will himself ^(D)restore, ^(E)confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

⁶ In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by ^(A)various trials, ⁷ so that ^(B)the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes ^(C)though it is tested by ^(D)fire—may be found to result in ^(E)praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

⁴ Therefore ^(A)we ourselves boast about you ^(B)in the churches of God for your steadfastness and faith ^(C)in all your persecutions and in the afflictions that you are enduring.

The Judgment at Christ's Coming

⁵ This is ^(D)evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be ^(E)considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering—

^6 (A)If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. ⁷ Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you ^(B)share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.
