James 5:10-12
New Revised Standard Version, Anglicised Catholic Edition
10 As an example of suffering and patience, beloved,[a] take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 Indeed we call blessed those who showed endurance. You have heard of the endurance of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.
12 Above all, my beloved,[b] do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your ‘Yes’ be yes and your ‘No’ be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.

James 5:10-12
New International Version
10 Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets(A) who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 As you know, we count as blessed(B) those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance(C) and have seen what the Lord finally brought about.(D) The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.(E)
12 Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned.(F)
