¹⁸Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

¹⁸But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

Show me your faith without deeds,^(A) and I will show you my faith^(B) by my deeds.^(C)

²⁰But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

²⁰You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless^[a]?^(A)
