James 1:9-11

⁹^(A)Now the brother or sister of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position; ¹⁰but the rich person is to glory in his ^[a]humiliation, because ^(B)like ^[b]flowering grass he will pass away. ¹¹For the sun rises with ^(C)its scorching heat and ^(D)withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so also the rich person, in the midst of his pursuits, will die out.

⁹Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position.^(A) ¹⁰But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.^(B) ¹¹For the sun rises with scorching heat^(C) and withers^(D) the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed.^(E) In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business.
