15 »Ja sam prava loza, a moj je Otac vinogradar. 2 On uklanja svaki izdanak na meni koji ne donosi plod, a svaki koji donosi plod obrezuje i čisti da donese još više plodova. 3 Vi ste već čisti zbog učenja koje ste od mene čuli. 4 Ostanite u meni i ja ću ostati u vama. Kao što izdanak može donijeti plod samo ako ostane na lozi, tako i vi možete donijeti plod samo ako ostanete u meni.
5 Ja sam loza, vi ste izdanci. Tko ostane u meni, kao što ja ostajem u Njemu, donosi mnogo plodova. Jer, bez mene ne možete ništa učiniti. 6 Onaj tko ne ostane u meni, on je poput grane koja se osuši nakon što se odbaci. Takve se grane potom skupljaju, bacaju u vatru i spaljuju.
7 Ako ostanete u meni i moje riječi ostanu u vama, tražite što god želite i dobit ćete. 8 Donijet ćete mnogo plodova i pokazati se kao moji učenici. Tako će moj Otac primiti slavu. 9 Kao što je Otac volio mene, i ja sam volio vas. Ostanite u mojoj ljubavi. 10 Ako budete izvršavali moje zapovijedi, ostat ćete u mojoj ljubavi kao što sam i ja izvršio zapovijedi svoga Oca i ostajem u njegovoj ljubavi. 11 Ovo sam vam rekao da moja radost bude u vama i da vaša radost bude potpuna. 12 Moja zapovijed glasi: volite jedan drugoga kao što sam ja volio vas! 13 Ako tko položi svoj život za svoje prijatelje, to je najveća ljubav koju može pokazati. 14 Vi ste moji prijatelji ako činite ono što vam zapovijedam. 15 Više vas ne nazivam ‘slugama’ jer sluga ne zna što čini njegov gospodar. Zovem vas ‘prijateljima’ jer sam vam prenio sve što sam čuo od svog Oca. 16 Niste vi izabrali mene, nego sam ja izabrao vas i odredio vas da idete i donesete plod, i da taj plod ostane, tako da vam Otac dâ sve što ga zamolite u moje ime. 17 Ovo vam zapovijedam: volite jedan drugoga!«
Isus upozorava
18 »Ako vas svijet mrzi, znajte da je mene mrzio prije vas. 19 Da pripadate svijetu, svijet bi vas volio kao svoje. Ali vi ne pripadate svijetu jer sam vas ja izabrao iz njega. To je razlog zašto vas svijet mrzi. 20 Sjetite se što sam vam rekao: ‘Sluga nije veći od gospodara’. Ako su progonili mene, progonit će i vas. Ako su slijedili moje upute, slijedit će i vaše. 21 Sve će vam to činiti zbog mene jer ne poznaju onoga koji me je poslao. 22 Da nisam došao i govorio im, ne bi bili krivi za grijeh. No sada nemaju isprike za svoj grijeh. 23 Tko mene mrzi, mrzi i mog Oca. 24 Među njima sam učinio djela koja nikad nitko nije učinio. Da ih nisam učinio, ne bi bili krivi za grijeh. No vidjeli su djela koja sam učinio, a ipak mrze i mene i mog Oca. 25 No to se dogodilo da bi se ostvarilo ono što je zapisano u njihovom Zakonu: ‘Mrzili su me bez razloga.’[a]
26 Doći će vam Zastupnik[b] kojeg ću poslati od Oca. On je Duh istine koji dolazi od Oca i On će govoriti o meni. 27 Ali i vi ćete govoriti o meni jer ste otpočetka sa mnom.«

I Am the True Vine
15 “I am the (A)true vine, and my Father is (B)the vinedresser. 2 (C)Every branch in me that does not bear fruit (D)he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, (E)that it may bear more fruit. 3 Already (F)you are clean (G)because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 (H)Abide (I)in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; (J)you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that (K)bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in me, (L)he is thrown away like a branch and withers; (M)and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If (N)you abide in me, and my words abide in you, (O)ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 (P)By this my Father is glorified, that you (Q)bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. 9 (R)As the Father has loved me, (S)so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 (T)If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as (U)I have kept (V)my Father's commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, (W)that my joy may be in you, and that (X)your joy may be full.
12 (Y)“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 (Z)Greater love has no one than this, (AA)that someone lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are (AB)my friends (AC)if you do what I command you. 15 (AD)No longer do I call you servants,[a] for the servant (AE)does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for (AF)all that I have heard from my Father (AG)I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but (AH)I chose you and appointed you that you should go and (AI)bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that (AJ)whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. 17 These things I command you, (AK)so that you will love one another.
The Hatred of the World
18 (AL)“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 (AM)If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because (AN)you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you: (AO)‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, (AP)they will also persecute you. (AQ)If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. 21 But (AR)all these things they will do to you (AS)on account of my name, (AT)because they do not know him who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, (AU)they would not have been guilty of sin,[b] but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 (AV)Whoever hates me hates my Father also. 24 (AW)If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, (AX)they would not be guilty of sin, but now they have (AY)seen and hated both me and my Father. 25 But (AZ)the word that is written in their Law must be fulfilled: (BA)‘They hated me without a cause.’
26 “But (BB)when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, (BC)he will bear witness about me. 27 And (BD)you also will bear witness, (BE)because you have been with me (BF)from the beginning.

15 »Yo soy la vid verdadera(A) , y Mi Padre es el viñador(B) . 2 Todo sarmiento que en Mí no da fruto, lo quita; y todo el que da fruto, lo poda[a]para que dé más fruto. 3 Ustedes ya están limpios por la palabra(C)que les he hablado.
4 »Permanezcan en Mí(D) , y Yo en ustedes. Como el sarmiento no puede dar fruto por sí mismo si no permanece en la vid, así tampoco ustedes si no permanecen en Mí. 5 Yo soy la vid, ustedes los sarmientos; el que permanece en Mí y Yo en él, ese da mucho fruto(E), porque separados de Mí nada pueden hacer. 6 Si alguien no permanece en Mí, es echado fuera como un sarmiento(F)y se seca; y los recogen, los echan al fuego y se queman.
7 »Si permanecen en Mí, y Mis palabras permanecen en ustedes, pidan lo que quieran y les será hecho(G) . 8 En esto es glorificado Mi Padre(H), en que den mucho fruto, y así prueben que son[b]Mis discípulos(I). 9 Como el Padre me ha amado(J), así también Yo los he amado; permanezcan en Mi amor. 10 Si guardan Mis mandamientos, permanecerán en Mi amor(K), así como Yo he guardado los mandamientos de Mi Padre(L)y permanezco en Su amor.
11 »Estas cosas les he hablado, para que Mi gozo esté en ustedes, y su gozo sea perfecto[c](M) . 12 Este es Mi mandamiento: que se amen los unos a los otros, así como Yo los he amado(N). 13 Nadie tiene un amor mayor que este: que uno dé[d]su vida(O)por sus amigos. 14 Ustedes son Mis amigos(P)si hacen lo que Yo les mando(Q). 15 Ya no los llamo siervos, porque el siervo no sabe lo que hace su señor; pero los he llamado amigos, porque les he dado a conocer todo lo que he oído de Mi Padre(R).
16 »Ustedes no me escogieron a Mí, sino que Yo los escogí a ustedes(S) , y los designé para que vayan y den fruto(T) , y que su fruto permanezca; para que todo lo que pidan al Padre en Mi nombre se lo conceda(U) . 17 Esto les mando: que se amen los unos a los otros(V).
18 »Si el mundo los odia, sepan[e] que me ha odiado a Mí(W) antes que a ustedes. 19 Si ustedes fueran del mundo, el mundo amaría lo suyo; pero como no son del mundo, sino que Yo los escogí(X)de entre el mundo, por eso el mundo los odia(Y). 20 Acuérdense de la palabra que Yo les dije: “Un siervo no es mayor que su señor(Z)”. Si me persiguieron a Mí, también los perseguirán a ustedes(AA); si guardaron Mi palabra(AB), también guardarán la de ustedes. 21 Pero todo eso les harán por causa de Mi nombre(AC), porque no conocen a Aquel que me envió(AD). 22 Si Yo no hubiera venido y no les hubiera hablado, no tendrían pecado[f](AE), pero ahora no tienen excusa por su pecado. 23 El que me odia a Mí, odia también a Mi Padre. 24 Si Yo no hubiera hecho entre ellos las obras(AF)que ningún otro ha hecho, no tendrían pecado[g](AG); pero ahora las han visto, y me han odiado a Mí y también a Mi Padre. 25 Pero ellos han hecho esto para que se cumpla la palabra que está escrita en su ley(AH): “Me odiaron sin causa(AI)”.
26 »Cuando venga el Consolador[h](AJ) , a quien Yo enviaré del Padre(AK) , es decir, el Espíritu de verdad(AL) que procede del Padre, Él dará testimonio de Mí(AM) , 27 y ustedes también darán testimonio[i](AN), porque han estado junto a Mí desde el principio(AO).

15 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.
18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.
23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also.
24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
25 But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
