Parurusahan ng Diyos ang Kanyang mga Kaaway
34 Kayo'y magsilapit, kayong mga bansa, upang makinig;
at pakinggan ninyo, O mga bayan!
Dinggin ng lupa at ng lahat ng narito;
ng sanlibutan, at ng lahat na bagay na mula rito.
2 Sapagkat ang Panginoon ay galit laban sa lahat ng bansa,
at napopoot laban sa lahat nilang hukbo,
kanyang inilaan na sila, kanyang ibinigay sila upang patayin.
3 Ang kanilang patay ay itatapon,
at ang baho ng kanilang mga bangkay ay aalingasaw;
at ang mga bundok ay tutunawin ng kanilang dugo.
4 Ang(A) lahat ng mga bagay sa langit ay mabubulok,
at ang langit ay malululon na parang balumbon.
Lahat ng bagay ay babagsak,
na parang dahong nalalagas sa puno ng ubas,
at gaya ng dahong nalalanta sa puno ng igos.
5 Sapagkat(B) ang aking tabak ay nalasing sa langit;
narito, ito'y bumababa sa Edom,
sa bayan na aking itinalaga para hatulan.
6 Ang Panginoon ay may tabak na punô ng dugo,
ito ay ginawang mataba ng katabaan,
sa dugo ng mga kordero at ng mga kambing,
sa taba ng mga bato ng mga lalaking tupa.
Sapagkat may handog ang Panginoon sa Bosra,
isang malaking patayan sa lupain ng Edom.
7 Ang maiilap na baka ay mabubuwal na kasama nila,
at ang mga batang baka na kasama ng malalakas na toro.
Ang kanilang lupain ay basang-basa sa dugo,
at ang kanilang alabok ay sasagana sa katabaan.
8 Sapagkat ang araw ng paghihiganti ay sa Panginoon,
ang taon ng pagganti para sa kapakanan ng Zion.
9 At ang kanyang mga batis ay magiging alkitran,
at ang alabok niya ay magiging asupre,
at ang lupain niya ay magiging nagniningas na alkitran.
10 Hindi(C) ito mapapatay sa gabi o sa araw man;
ang usok niyon ay paiilanglang magpakailanman.
Mula sa isang lahi hanggang sa susunod na lahi ito ay tiwangwang,
walang daraan doon magpakailan kailanman.
11 Ngunit ito ay aangkinin ng lawin at ng porkupino;
at ang kuwago at ang uwak ay maninirahan doon.
Kanyang iuunat doon ang pisi ng pagkalito,
at ang pabigat ng kawalan sa mga mararangal nito.
12 Kanilang tatawagin iyon na Walang Kaharian Doon,
at lahat niyang mga pinuno ay mawawalang kabuluhan.
13 At mga tinik ay tutubo sa kanyang mga palasyo,
mga dawag at damo sa mga muog niyon.
Iyon ay magiging tahanan ng mga asong-gubat,
tirahan ng mga avestruz.
14 At ang maiilap na hayop ay makikipagsalubong sa mga asong-gubat,
at ang lalaking kambing ay sisigaw sa kanyang kasama;
ang malaking kuwago ay maninirahan din doon,
at makakatagpo siya ng dakong pahingahan.
15 Doo'y magpupugad at mangingitlog ang ahas,
at magpipisa ng itlog at titipunin sa kanyang lilim;
doon matitipon ang mga lawin,
bawat isa'y kasama ng kanyang kauri.
16 Inyong saliksikin at basahin ang aklat ng Panginoon:
Kahit isa sa mga ito ay hindi magkukulang;
walang mangangailangan ng kanyang kasama.
Sapagkat iniutos ng bibig ng Panginoon,
at tinipon sila ng kanyang Espiritu.
17 At siya'y nagpalabunutan para sa kanila,
at ito'y binahagi ng kanyang kamay sa kanila sa pamamagitan ng pising panukat;
ito'y kanilang aariin magpakailanman,
mula sa mga sali't salinlahi ay maninirahan sila roon.

La condanna di Edom
34 Avvicinatevi, popoli, per udire,
e voi, nazioni, prestate ascolto;
ascolti la terra e quanti vi abitano,
il mondo e quanto produce!
2 Poiché il Signore è adirato contro tutti i popoli
ed è sdegnato contro tutti i loro eserciti;
li ha votati allo sterminio, li ha destinati al massacro.
3 I loro uccisi sono gettati via,
si diffonde il fetore dei loro cadaveri;
grondano i monti del loro sangue.
4 Tutta la milizia celeste si dissolve,
i cieli si arrotolano come un libro,
tutti i loro astri cadono
come cade il pampino della vite,
come le foglie avvizzite del fico.
5 Poiché nel cielo si è inebriata la spada del Signore,
ecco essa si abbatte su Edom,
su un popolo che egli ha votato allo sterminio per fare giustizia.
6 La spada del Signore è piena di sangue,
è imbrattata di grasso,
del sangue di agnelli e di capri,
delle viscere grasse dei montoni,
perché si compie un sacrificio al Signore in Bozra,
una grande ecatombe nel paese di Edom.
7 Cadono bisonti insieme con essi,
giovenchi insieme con tori.
La loro terra si imbeve di sangue,
la polvere si impingua di grasso.
8 Poiché è il giorno della vendetta del Signore,
l'anno della retribuzione per l'avversario di Sion.
9 I torrenti di quel paese si cambieranno in pece,
la sua polvere in zolfo,
la sua terra diventerà pece ardente.
10 Non si spegnerà né di giorno né di notte,
sempre salirà il suo fumo;
per tutte le generazioni resterà deserta,
mai più alcuno vi passerà.
11 Ne prenderanno possesso il pellicano e il riccio,
il gufo e il corvo vi faranno dimora.
Il Signore stenderà su di essa la corda della solitudine
e la livella del vuoto.
12 Non ci saranno più i suoi nobili,
non si proclameranno più re,
tutti i suoi capi saranno ridotti a nulla.
13 Nei suoi palazzi saliranno le spine,
ortiche e cardi sulle sue fortezze;
diventerà una tana di sciacalli,
un recinto per gli struzzi.
14 Gatti selvatici si incontreranno con iene,
i satiri si chiameranno l'un l'altro;
vi faranno sosta anche le civette
e vi troveranno tranquilla dimora.
15 Vi si anniderà il serpente saettone, vi deporrà le uova,
le farà dischiudere e raccoglierà i piccoli alla sua ombra;
vi si raduneranno anche gli sparvieri,
l'uno in cerca dell'altro;
16 nessuno si farà attendere.
]Cercate nel libro del Signore e leggete:
nessuno di essi vi manca,
poiché la bocca del Signore lo ha comandato
e il suo spirito li raduna.
17 Egli ha distribuito loro la parte in sorte,
la sua mano ha diviso loro il paese con tutta esattezza,
lo possederanno per sempre,
lo abiteranno di generazione in generazione.

34 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.
2 For the indignation of the Lord is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
3 Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.
5 For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.
6 The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the Lord hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.
7 And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.
8 For it is the day of the Lord's vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.
9 And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.
10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.
11 But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness.
12 They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing.
13 And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and a court for owls.
14 The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.
15 There shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be gathered, every one with her mate.
16 Seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.
17 And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.
