Ang Mensahe bahin sa Jerusalem
29 Miingon ang Ginoo, “Alaot ang Jerusalem,[a] ang siyudad nga gipuy-an ni David! Sige, pasauloga kini nga siyudad sa iyang mga pista matag tuig. 2 Apan sulongon ko kini, ug manghilak ug magbakho ang mga lumulupyo niini. Ug alang kanako, ang tibuok nga siyudad mahimong sama sa halaran nga napuno sa dugo.[b] 3 Palibotan ko ang siyudad sa Jerusalem. Maghimo akog mga damba ug tambakan kog yuta ang palibot sa inyong mga paril, ug sulongon ko kamo. 4 Malaglag kamo, ug mahimong sama sa usa ka kalag nga naghagawhaw gikan sa ilalom sa yuta. 5 Apan sa kaulahian, ang inyong mga kaaway nga daghan kaayo mahimong sama sa abog o tahop nga paliron sa hangin. Kalit lang kini mahitabo kanila. 6 Duawon sa Ginoo nga Makagagahom ang Jerusalem inubanan sa dalogdog, linog, dakong kabanha, buhawi, bagyo, ug nagdilaab nga kalayo. 7-8 Mawala sama sa usa ka damgo ang daghang mga nasod nga nakiggira sa Jerusalem ug miguba sa mga paril niini. Sama sila sa tawo nga nagdamgo nga mikaon, apan sa pagmata niya, gigutom pa gihapon siya, o sama sa tawo nga nagdamgo nga miinom, apan momata siya nga luya kay wala matagbaw ang iyang kauhaw.”
9 Kamong mga taga-Judah, liboga ninyo ang inyong kaugalingon ug pagpakabuang kamo. Taptapi ninyo ang inyong mga mata ug pagpakabuta kamo. Naghubog kamo ug nagsusapinday apan dili tungod sa bino. 10 Kay gipahinanok kamo sa Ginoo. Gitabonan niya ang inyong mga ulo ug mga mata, nga mao ang inyong mga propeta.
11 Alang kaninyo, kining tanan nga gipadayag kaninyo sama sa libro nga selyado. Kon ipabasa mo kini sa tawo nga mahibalong mobasa, moingon siya, “Dili ko kana mabasa tungod kay selyado.” 12 Ug kon ipabasa mo sa dili mahibalong mobasa, moingon siya, “Dili ako mahibalong mobasa.”
13 Mi-ingon ang Ginoo, “Kining katawhan nagdayeg ug nagpasidungog kanako sa baba lang, apan ang ilang kasingkasing layo kanako. Ug ang ilang pagsimba kanako sumala lang sa mga kasugoan sa tawo. 14 Busa pahinganghaon ko pag-usab kini nga mga tawhana sa sunod-sunod nga mga katingalahang butang. Ug wad-on ko ang kaalam sa mga maalamon ug ang kahibalo sa mga utokan.”
15 Alaot kamong naningkamot sa pagtago sa inyong mga plano gikan sa Ginoo. Naghimo kamo sa inyong mga buluhaton diha sa kangitngit ug nagaingon, “Walay makakita o makahibalo sa atong gihimo.” 16 Mga hungog kamo! Bali ang inyong pangisip. Giisip ninyong sama sa yutang kolonon ang tighimo ug kolon.[c] Makaingon ba ang hinimo nga butang sa naghimo kaniya, “Dili ikaw ang naghimo kanako?” Makaingon ba ang kolon sa nagaumol kaniya, “Wala kay hibangkaagan?”
17 Sa dili madugay ang kakahoyan sa Lebanon mahimong tabunok nga uma, ug ang tabunok nga uma mahimong kakahoyan. 18 Nianang higayona, ang bungol makadungog na sa mga pulong nga gibasa gikan sa libro. Ug ang buta, nga pulos kangitngit lang ang iyang makita, makakita na. 19 Ug tungod sa Ginoo, ang Balaan nga Dios sa Israel, maglipay pag-usab ang mga mapainubsanon ug ang mga kabos. 20 Mawala na ang mga mapintas ug mabiay-biayon nga mga tawo. Mangamatay ang tanang mahigugmaon sa pagpakasala 21 apil ang tanang nagbutang-butang sa uban, ang mga nagtuis sa katarong sa hukmanan, ug ang mga naghatag ug mga bakak nga pagsaksi aron dili mahatagan ug hustisya ang mga walay sala.
22 Busa ang Ginoo, ang Dios nga nagluwas kang Abraham, nagaingon mahitungod sa mga kaliwat ni Jacob, “Sugod karon, wala na silay angay ikaulaw o kahadlokan. 23 Kay kon makita nila ang akong mga binuhatan, tahoron nila ako, ang Balaan nga Dios ni Jacob, ug ilhon nila ang akong pagkabalaan. Kahadlokan nila ako nga Dios sa Israel. 24 Ang mga naglibog makasabot na unya sa kamatuoran, ug ang nagreklamo malipay na nga tudloan.”

Woe to David’s City
29 Woe(A) to you, Ariel, Ariel,(B)
the city(C) where David settled!
Add year to year
and let your cycle of festivals(D) go on.
2 Yet I will besiege Ariel;(E)
she will mourn and lament,(F)
she will be to me like an altar hearth.[a](G)
3 I will encamp against you on all sides;
I will encircle(H) you with towers
and set up my siege works(I) against you.
4 Brought low, you will speak from the ground;
your speech will mumble(J) out of the dust.(K)
Your voice will come ghostlike(L) from the earth;
out of the dust your speech will whisper.(M)
5 But your many enemies will become like fine dust,(N)
the ruthless(O) hordes like blown chaff.(P)
Suddenly,(Q) in an instant,
6 the Lord Almighty will come(R)
with thunder(S) and earthquake(T) and great noise,
with windstorm and tempest(U) and flames of a devouring fire.(V)
7 Then the hordes of all the nations(W) that fight against Ariel,(X)
that attack her and her fortress and besiege her,
will be as it is with a dream,(Y)
with a vision in the night—
8 as when a hungry person dreams of eating,
but awakens(Z) hungry still;
as when a thirsty person dreams of drinking,
but awakens faint and thirsty still.(AA)
So will it be with the hordes of all the nations
that fight against Mount Zion.(AB)
9 Be stunned and amazed,(AC)
blind yourselves and be sightless;(AD)
be drunk,(AE) but not from wine,(AF)
stagger,(AG) but not from beer.
10 The Lord has brought over you a deep sleep:(AH)
He has sealed your eyes(AI) (the prophets);(AJ)
he has covered your heads (the seers).(AK)
11 For you this whole vision(AL) is nothing but words sealed(AM) in a scroll. And if you give the scroll to someone who can read, and say, “Read this, please,” they will answer, “I can’t; it is sealed.” 12 Or if you give the scroll to someone who cannot read, and say, “Read this, please,” they will answer, “I don’t know how to read.”
13 The Lord says:
“These people(AN) come near to me with their mouth
and honor me with their lips,(AO)
but their hearts are far from me.(AP)
Their worship of me
is based on merely human rules they have been taught.[b](AQ)
14 Therefore once more I will astound these people
with wonder upon wonder;(AR)
the wisdom of the wise(AS) will perish,
the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish.(AT)”
15 Woe to those who go to great depths
to hide(AU) their plans from the Lord,
who do their work in darkness and think,
“Who sees us?(AV) Who will know?”(AW)
16 You turn things upside down,
as if the potter were thought to be like the clay!(AX)
Shall what is formed say to the one who formed(AY) it,
“You did not make me”?
Can the pot say to the potter,(AZ)
“You know nothing”?(BA)
17 In a very short time,(BB) will not Lebanon(BC) be turned into a fertile field(BD)
and the fertile field seem like a forest?(BE)
18 In that day(BF) the deaf(BG) will hear the words of the scroll,
and out of gloom and darkness(BH)
the eyes of the blind will see.(BI)
19 Once more the humble(BJ) will rejoice in the Lord;
the needy(BK) will rejoice in the Holy One(BL) of Israel.
20 The ruthless(BM) will vanish,(BN)
the mockers(BO) will disappear,
and all who have an eye for evil(BP) will be cut down—
21 those who with a word make someone out to be guilty,
who ensnare the defender in court(BQ)
and with false testimony(BR) deprive the innocent of justice.(BS)
22 Therefore this is what the Lord, who redeemed(BT) Abraham,(BU) says to the descendants of Jacob:
“No longer will Jacob be ashamed;(BV)
no longer will their faces grow pale.(BW)
23 When they see among them their children,(BX)
the work of my hands,(BY)
they will keep my name holy;(BZ)
they will acknowledge the holiness of the Holy One(CA) of Jacob,
and will stand in awe of the God of Israel.
24 Those who are wayward(CB) in spirit will gain understanding;(CC)
those who complain will accept instruction.”(CD)

29 Ah, Ariel, Ariel,
the city (A)where David encamped!
Add year to year;
let the feasts run their round.
2 Yet I will distress Ariel,
and there shall be moaning and lamentation,
and she shall be to me like an Ariel.[a]
3 (B)And I will encamp against you all around,
and will besiege you (C)with towers
and I will raise siegeworks against you.
4 (D)And you will be brought low; from the earth you shall speak,
and from the dust your speech will be bowed down;
your voice shall come from the ground like (E)the voice of a ghost,
and from the dust your speech shall whisper.
5 But the multitude of your foreign foes shall be like (F)small dust,
and the multitude of the ruthless like passing chaff.
(G)And in an instant, suddenly,
6 (H)you will be visited by the Lord of hosts
with thunder and with earthquake and great noise,
with whirlwind and tempest, and the flame of a devouring fire.
7 And (I)the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel,
all that fight against her and her stronghold and distress her,
shall be (J)like a dream, a vision of the night.
8 (K)As when a hungry man dreams, and behold, he is eating,
and awakes with his hunger not satisfied,
or as when a thirsty man dreams, and behold, he is drinking,
and awakes faint, with his thirst not quenched,
so shall the multitude of all the nations be
that fight against Mount Zion.
9 Astonish yourselves[b] and be astonished;
blind yourselves and be blind!
Be drunk,[c] but not with wine;
(L)stagger,[d] but not with strong drink!
10 (M)For the Lord has poured out upon you
a spirit of deep sleep,
and has closed your eyes (the prophets),
and covered your heads (the seers).
11 And the vision of all this has become to you like the words of a book that is (N)sealed. When men give it to one who can read, saying, “Read this,” he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.” 12 And when they give the book to one who cannot read, saying, “Read this,” he says, “I cannot read.”
13 And the Lord said:
“Because (O)this people (P)draw near with their mouth
and honor me with their lips,
while their hearts are far from me,
and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men,
14 therefore, behold, (Q)I will again
do wonderful things with this people,
with wonder upon wonder;
and (R)the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,
and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”
15 Ah, (S)you who hide deep from the Lord your counsel,
whose deeds are (T)in the dark,
and who say, “Who sees us? Who knows us?”
16 (U)You turn things upside down!
Shall the potter be regarded as the clay,
that the thing made should say of its maker,
“He did not make me”;
or the thing formed say of him who formed it,
“He has no understanding”?
17 Is it not yet a very little while
(V)until Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field,
and the fruitful field shall be regarded as a forest?
18 In that day (W)the deaf shall hear
(X)the words of a book,
and out of their gloom and darkness
(Y)the eyes of the blind shall see.
19 (Z)The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord,
and the poor among mankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel.
20 For the ruthless shall come to nothing
and (AA)the scoffer cease,
and all who watch to do evil shall be cut off,
21 who by a word make a man out to be an offender,
and (AB)lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate,
and with an empty plea (AC)turn aside him who is in the right.
22 Therefore thus says the Lord, (AD)who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob:
“Jacob shall no more be ashamed,
no more shall his face grow pale.
23 For when he sees his children,
(AE)the work of my hands, in his midst,
they will sanctify my name;
(AF)they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob
and will stand in awe of the God of Israel.
24 And those (AG)who go astray in spirit will come to understanding,
and those who murmur will accept instruction.”

2 Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel.
3 And I will camp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with a mount, and I will raise forts against thee.
4 And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.
5 Moreover the multitude of thy strangers shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones shall be as chaff that passeth away: yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly.
6 Thou shalt be visited of the Lord of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.
7 And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision.
8 It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.
9 Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.
10 For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.
11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:
12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.
13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
15 Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the Lord, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?
16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?
17 Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?
18 And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.
19 The meek also shall increase their joy in the Lord, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
20 For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off:
21 That make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nought.
22 Therefore thus saith the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale.
23 But when he seeth his children, the work of mine hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name, and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel.
24 They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.
